An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer member movably provided between a contact position and a separated position, first and second bearings, a supporting member, first and second urging members for urging the first and second bearings, respectively, and a moving member provided with first and second engaging portions engaging with the first and second bearings, respectively. At least a part of the moving member is disposed on the same side as the transfer member with respect to the supporting member in a moving direction. As viewed in a recording material conveyance direction, the moving member and the transfer member are overlapped with each other in a state in which the transfer member is positioned in the separated position.

An image forming apparatus includes a feeding portion, an image forming portion, a fixing portion, a casing, a discharging portion, a reversing portion, and a controller. In a first operation, the image forming portion forms an image on a sheet fed by the feeding portion, and then the discharging portion discharges the sheet. In a second operation, after the reversing portion reverses and conveys the sheet (i) which is fed by the feeding portion and (ii) which passes through the image forming portion without forming the image thereon and is conveyed to the second conveyance passage, the image forming portion forms the image on the sheet, and then the discharging portion discharges the sheet.

An image forming apparatus to form an image on a recording material includes a photosensitive member, an exposure device to form a latent image on the photosensitive member, a tubular body defining a space in which at least a part of the exposure device is contained, and a support portion that supports the exposure device and is provided along a rotation axis direction of the photosensitive member in the space of the tubular body. The image forming apparatus further includes, in the rotation axis direction, a first side plate fixed to one end portion of the tubular body, and a second side plate fixed to another end portion of the tubular body. One support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the first side plate, and another support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the second side plate.

The second face is superposed on the first face so that the groove portion located between the first member and the second member is in a visible state.
