The present invention is to provide a method for displaying a copy pair in which a distinction can be made between change of pair state performed intentionally by a user and change of pair state performed not intentionally by the user. When a backup instruction for PVOL is transmitted from the task server to the storage subsystem, the subsystem records, on a table, backup execution condition information including an ID of a copy pair having the PVOL. The monitoring program acquires the pair state of each copy pair and the backup execution condition information from the subsystem, and displays the pair state of the copy pair having the ID contained in the backup execution condition information, and the pair state of other copy pair, in different display modes.

Method for displaying pair state of copy pairs

A storage system has a cache memory, a side-file being a storage area prepared in memory, and a copy source storage device. Each time write data is received, the storage system writes the write data to the copy source storage device via the cache memory, and also writes the received write data to the side-file. The storage system sends the plurality of write data accumulated in the side-file to another storage system at a certain timing. Thus, the plurality of write data stored in the copy source storage device is written to the copy destination storage device in the other storage system.

Storage system and storage control method

A storage system includes an application server that provides an application composed of a plurality of programs, a plurality of first volumes that store data that the programs use, and a plurality of second volumes set in pair states where replicas of the plurality of first volumes are stored. A program for managing the storage system controls a computer to execute the procedures of: identifying any one of the plurality of programs; identifying a first volume that the identified program uses; obtaining every second volume set in a pair state with the first volume; and summarizing the first volume and the obtained second volume for the identified program.

The present invention is constituted so as to enable more effective backup and restoration than in the prior art. Each time a write request is issued from an applicationa PVOL is updated by writing the data contained in the issued write request to the PVOLP. In the snapshot mode, when the write frequency exceeds a frequency threshold value, the mode is switched from the snapshot mode to the journal mode. When in the snapshot mode, a snapshot of the PVOL at this point in time is acquired, either at regular or irregular intervals, for a SVOLS, and the snapshot in this SVOL becomes the restoration data. When in the journal mode, a journal comprising the data in a write request is written to a JVOLJ each time the write request is issued, and a backup, to which is applied the data in a journal written to the JVOL, is acquired when executing restoration.
