The present application discloses a vibration application method including a stage for contacting a contact portion with at least one tooth, and a stage for causing the contact portion to vibrate so as to impart displacement of 0.04 &#x3bc;m or more to the contact portion. The difference between the maximum value and minimum value of a vibrational load during the time the contact portion is vibrating may be 3 gf to 10 gf. The stage for contacting the contact portion with the at least one tooth may include a stage for contacting the contact portion with an orthodontic appliance attached to the at least one tooth.

The present invention concerns an orthodontic appliance for accelerating the tooth aligning effect and shortening the treatment period, and has an object to provide an appliance which can bring about higher aligning effect than usual ways by giving vibration to tooth to be aligned to activate bone remodeling of the targeted tooth and the alveolar bone and enhance the shift of the tooth. This appliance includes a vibrating element and a dental mouthpiece having the vibrating element built therein. The provision of the vibrating element in the dental mouthpiece facilitates the application of vibration and handling, and continues the treatment safely even at home. The inner shape of the dental mouthpiece serves aligning treatment as well as acceleration of the effect.

Method for producing an orthodontic appliance having a vibrating element

The present invention aims to provide an orthodontic appliance capable of efficiently applying vibration to teeth to be aligned and enabling a treatment to be easily and safely continued even at home. This appliance is provided with a load applying mechanism and a vibration generating actuator. The load applying mechanism is mounted on teeth to apply a load for the malocclusion correction to a specified tooth in the teeth. The vibration generating actuator includes a contact portion that is inserted into a buccal cavity containing the teeth and can come into contact with a part of the load applying mechanism corresponding to the specified tooth or the specified tooth, and applies a vibration force from the contact portion to the specified tooth or the part of the load applying mechanism.

An apparatus for examining a subject's brain functions acquires two or more indexes of pupillary indexes that show the subject's pupillary characteristics, visual indexes that show the subject's visual system functions, intelligence evaluating indexes that are results of the an intelligence test carried out on the subject, and behavior evaluating indexes that show the results the subject's behavior examination. Two or more indexes are stored in a memory and outputted from an output unit. By combining two or more kinds of independent indexes, accurate determination of dementia cases and further the degree of senescence of brain functions can be achieved. A brain function examining apparatus and others for performing an examination of a brain function by detecting a pupillary size of a subject's pupil are provided. The brain function examining apparatus includes a light source for illuminating the pupil, a pupillary detector for detecting the pupillary size, an index calculator for calculating, based on the pupillary size detected by the pupillary detector, a subject index indicative of a characteristic of the pupil, a database for storing a base index indicative of a characteristic of the pupil that can be used as reference, and an output unit for outputting the subject index, calculated by the index calculator, and the base index stored in the database.
