A deteriorated capacity calculator calculates a deteriorated capacity that is a capacity reduced from the capacity of a cell in an initial state. A gas amount calculator calculates an amount of gas contained in a container for the cell, from the deteriorated capacity. A pressure calculator calculates a pressure inside the container for the cell from the amount of the gas, a volume of a void space of the container for the cell and the temperature of the cell. A pressure monitor outputs a control signal for stopping charging or discharging of the battery when the pressure inside the container for at least any one cell is equal to or greater than a threshold pressure.

Rechargeable battery protecting apparatus and power storage system

Battery cells are disposed apart from each other in a housing of a battery module included in a power storage device. In the battery module, a partition member is provided that divides a space in the housing into a high temperature region, which contains battery cells located centrally in a disposal direction of the battery cells, and a low temperature region, which contains battery cells located at end portions in the disposal direction of the battery cells. The cooling air flow supplied from a fan passes between the battery cells in the high temperature region, passes through ventilation holes provided in the partition members, enters the low temperature region, passes between the battery cells in the low temperature region, passes through a discharge hole, and flows outside of the housing.

Power storage device

A storage battery deterioration measurement device and a power storage system are provided which measure deterioration in unit batteries included in an assembled battery constituting a storage battery in a shorter time than conventional devices and systems, and which include a control unit to acquire information based on the states of the multiple unit batteries and a deterioration determination unit to detect the unit battery indicating the maximum value among the information acquired by the control unit and the unit battery indicating the minimum value thereamong, and to detect deterioration in the unit batteries on the basis of the difference between a per-predetermined-period variation of information on the unit battery indicating the maximum value and a per-predetermined-period variation of information on the unit battery indicating the minimum value.

Storage battery deterioration measurement device and power storage system

A controller of a battery monitoring apparatus, said controller calculating the amount of heat generated inside a battery on the basis of information about the electric current which flows out of or flows into the battery. Furthermore, the controller calculates the amount of heat discharged from the surface of the battery, said amount being calculated on the basis of temperature information about at least one from among the surface of the battery and a substance in the vicinity of the battery. In addition, the controller calculates the temperature inside the battery on the basis of information about the amount of heat generated, and information about the amount of heat discharged.

Battery monitoring device, power storage system, and control system

In a power supply system using various kinds of storage batteries such as a large capacity storage battery or a small capacity storage battery, an electric power path is complicated, which may increase failures such as a short circuit trouble. There is a problem in that, when a short circuit trouble between storage batteries occurs, damage to a smaller capacity storage battery is serious. Accordingly, in a power supply system according to the present invention, the relationship among voltages, current capacities, and electric power capacities of various kinds of storage batteries such as a large capacity storage battery or a small capacity storage battery is defined so that damage to the storage batteries may be minimized even when malfunction occurs in, for example, switching a switch, and energy transfers from a higher voltage storage device.

Power supply system

Switches change the resistance value of a charge/discharge circuit in a period from starting a discharging at an upper limit voltage until the voltage reaches a lower limit voltage. An electric charge estimator computes electric charge by time-integrating current from a start of the discharging to an arbitrarily determined time, and computes a relationship between electric charge and voltage of a power storage device. An internal resistance estimator computes internal resistance based on voltages and currents of the storage device at times when resistance values are different. An electric energy estimator computes a relationship between electric charge and open voltage based on electric charge, voltage, current and internal resistance of the storage device. During charging or discharging of the storage device, the electric energy estimator estimates the electric energy of the power storage device based on the electric charge, the open voltage, the internal resistance, and the charge/discharge current.

Apparatus and method for estimating power storage device degradation

A battery-condition monitoring device that monitors a condition of the battery through discharge thereof includes a discharger and a discharge control device. The discharger includes a discharge circuit having a load resistor and a switching element connected in series between a positive electrode of the battery and a negative electrode thereof. The discharge control device controls an open/close operation of the switching element. The discharge control device adjusts the resistance value of the load resistor in the discharger, thereby enabling an adjustment of a discharge current.

Discharge device for electricity storage device

An exhaust gas purification device is provided. The device includes: in an exhaust gas passage for a combustion exhaust gas containing a nitrogen oxide, a hydrocarbon, and an oxygen in a larger amount than a theoretical reaction amount with respect to the hydrocarbon to flow therethrough, in order from upstream, a first catalyst part for selectively reducing a nitrogen oxide; a plasma discharge part for generating a plasma; a second catalyst part for selectively reducing a nitrogen oxide; and a purifying catalyst part for purifying a reducing agent.

Lithium ion secondary battery and its manufacture

An object is to provide a lithium ion secondary battery which maintains the electrical connections between each active material layer and a separator without using a firm housing, can have an increased energy density, can take an arbitrary shape, such as a thin shape, exhibits excellent charge and discharge characteristics, and has a large battery capacity. Positive and negative electrode active material particles are bonded to their respective current collectors to form a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The positive and the negative electrode active material layers are joined to a separator with a binder resin so that the joint strength between the separator and the positive and the negative electrode active material layers may be equal to or greater than the joint strength between the positive and the negative electrode active material layers and the respective current collectors to prepare a tabular laminated battery body having a plurality of electrode laminates. An electrolytic solution containing lithium ions is held in the voids possessed by the positive and the negative electrode active material layers and the separator to make an electrical connection between electrodes.

Lithium ion secondary battery

An object is to provide a process for producing a compact lithium ion secondary battery which exhibits high and stable performance and can take an arbitrary shape such as a thin shape. A process for producing a battery comprised of a positive electrode (,), a negative electrode (,), a separator (,) and an electrolytic solution comprises applying a binder resin solution mainly comprising a fluorocarbon resin or polyvinyl alcohol to a separator (,), laying a positive electrode (,) and a negative electrode (,) alternately on the separator (,) to form a laminated battery body having a plurality of laminates (,), drying the laminated battery body under pressure to form a tabular laminated battery body, and impregnating the tabular laminated battery body with an electrolytic solution.

Manufacture of lithium ion secondary battery

A lithium ion secondary battery. The battery maintains an electrical connection between electrodes without using a firm case and can have an increased energy density at a reduced thickness while exhibiting excellent charge and discharge characteristics. The battery includes a plurality of electrode laminates each having a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material layer and a positive electrode current collector. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode active material layer and a negative electrode current collector. This separator is impregnated with a lithium ion-containing electrolytic solution and is interposed between the electrodes in intimate contact. The positive electrode, negative electrode and separator are joined together in intimate contact with porous adhesive resin layers having through holes. The through holes are filled with electrolytic solution to connect the positive electrode active material layer, the negative electrode active material layer and the separator layer.
