The present invention relates to an improved controlled release system that can be incorporated into anhydrous cosmetic formulations and can encapsulate different types of fragrances, flavors, active ingredients, or combinations of fragrances, flavors, and various active ingredients. The controlled delivery system of the present invention is substantially free-flowing powder formed of solid hydrophobic nano-spheres that are encapsulated in a moisture sensitive micro-spheres. The fragrances, flavors, and active ingredients encapsulated in the nano-spheres can be the same or different from those encapsulated in the micro-sphere. The encapsulation of one or more fragrances, flavors or active agents in the various components of the system, such as nano-spheres and micro-spheres, provides odor or flavor transition (change in odor character or change in flavor character) during the use of the product, in response to moisture, such as wetting the lips, perspiration, and the like. The incorporation of the controlled release system of the present invention into anhydrous cosmetic formulations was found to provide moisture triggered release, as well as prolonged release of the fragrances, flavors, and active ingredients that are encapsulated in the solid hydrophobic nano-spheres over an extended period of time.

Multi component controlled release system for anhydrous cosmetic compositions

The present invention relates to a novel controlled release carrier system for pH or salt triggered release and targeted delivery of fragrances and other active ingredients onto fabric, hair, skin, and other biological surfaces and which provides prolonged release of fragrances and other active ingredients over an extended period of time, or yields a high impact fragrance 'burst' upon treating the target surface with heat (blow drying the hair, ironing the fabric). The controlled delivery system of the present invention is substantially a free-flowing powder formed of solid hydrophobic nano-spheres comprising the fragrance and other active ingredients that are encapsulated in a pH or salt sensitive micro-spheres. Also described are processes for preparing such compositions and processes for using same. Furthermore, certain components of the aforementioned compositions in combination with one another are novel, and other components have novel uses in increasing fragrance substantivity, particularly in fabric, hair, and skin care preparations. The invention further pertains to consumer and diversified products comprising the controlled release system of the present invention.

Targeted controlled delivery compositions activated by changes in pH or salt concentration

The present invention relates to a controlled release system useful for site specific delivery of biologically active ingredients or sensory markers, over an extended period of time, targeting biological surfaces comprising the oral cavity and mucous membranes of various tissues, as well as the controlled release of the biological active ingredients or sensory markers. The controlled release system of the present invention is a nano-particle, having an average particle diameter of from about 0.01 microns to about 10 microns, which comprises a biodegradable solid hydrophobic core and a bioadhesive/mucoadhesive positively charged surface. The invention also relates to the use of the nano-particles of the present invention in consumer oral hygiene products, such as toothpaste or mouthwash, for treatment and prevention of periodontal disease. The nano-particles of the present invention are particularly effective for targeted controlled delivery of biological active ingredients into the periodontal pocket. The present invention also provides synchronizing the release of the biologically active ingredient with that of the sensory markers to convey to the consumer the product performance and signal that a new application of the product is needed.

Biodegradable bioadhesive controlled release system of nano-particles for oral care products

Described is a fragrance control release system which is an emulsifier-free, single phase, nonporous, continuous, permeable polymeric film having a substantially uniform thickness of from about 1 up to about 150 microns, having entrapped and dissolved therein molecules of at least one fragrance substance capable of evolving from said film into the environment proximate said film by means of molecular diffusion at a permeation rate of from about 1&times;10 up to about 0.1 mg-mm/cm -min in a sustained and controlled release manner. Also described is a process for using the aforementioned system for imparting a fragrance into the environment above the unobstructed outer surface of the aforementioned polymer film which is coated on the surface of a solid or semi-solid support, e.g., a woven or non-woven fabric substrate; or a solid surface or human epidermis.

Application of film forming technology to fragrance control release systems; and resultant fragrance control release systems

Described are controlled, time-release microparticulate active and bioactive compositions (including perfuming compositions) for targeted delivery to surfaces such as skin, hair and fabric and the environment proximate thereto, where the active and bioactive materials have a calculated log P values of between 1 and 8 (P being the n-octanol-water partition coefficient). Such compositions include the active or bioactive material in single phase, solid solution in a wax or polymer matrix also having coated thereon and/or containing a compatible surfactant. Also described are processes and apparatus for preparing such compositions and processes for using same. Furthermore, certain component(s) of the aforementioned compositions in combination with one another are novel, and other components have novel uses in increasing fragrance substantivity, particularly in hair care preparations such as hair gels and shampoos.

Multicomponent biodegradable bioadhesive controlled release system for oral care products

The present invention relates to a controlled delivery system that can be incorporated in liquid, as well as, dry granular, or powder, fabric care products, such as fabric softeners, laundry detergents, rinse added products, and other fabric care products, to enhance fragrance performance. The controlled delivery system of the present invention is a solid, substantially spherical particle comprising hydrophobic cationic charge enhancing agents in conjunction with cationic fabric softening agents that assist in adhering the particles onto fabric. The particles can also include a fragrance. The particle can have an average particle diameter of from about 1 micron to about 500 microns. The controlled delivery system of the present invention can be utilized to deliver a broad range of fragrance ingredients onto fabric and prolong fragrance release from the dry laundered fabric over an extended period of time, or yield a high impact fragrance &ldquo;burst&rdquo; upon ironing the fabric. The invention also pertains to fabric care products comprising the controlled release system of the present invention.

Controlled delivery system for fabric care products

The present invention is a controlled delivery system that can be incorporated in hair care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, and other hair care products to effectively deliver a broad range of active agents and sensory markers, such as fragrances or cooling agents onto the hair. The system also prolongs the release rate of the active agents or sensory markers over an extended period of time, or provides heat triggered release of the active agents and yields a high impact fragrance &ldquo;burst&rdquo; upon blow drying the hair or other types of heat treatment. The controlled delivery system of the present invention is a nano-particle, having an average particle diameter of from about 0.01 microns to about 10 microns. The nano-particle comprises hydrophobic polymers and co-polymers, cationic charge boosters in conjunction with cationic surface-active conditioning agents that assist in adhering the particles onto hair. The invention further relates to a controlled delivery system where the release rate of the active ingredients is synchronized with that of a sensory marker to convey to the consumer the product performance.
