A method and a system for exercising policy control, a policy and charging enforcement function (PCEF) are provided, which can solve the problem that no policy control can be exercised over application service flows without an application function (AF). In the method, a PCRF receives information about an application event sent by a PCEF after subscribing the application event from the PCEF; and the PCRF generates a control policy for a service flow of the application according to the information about the application event. In the present invention, the PCEF sends the obtained information about the application event to the PCRF, so that even when no AF is involved, the PCRF can still generate a control policy according to policy contexts including the information about the application event and the like.

Method, system, and entity for exercising policy control

A method and a system for exercising policy control, a PCEF, and a PCRF are provided, which can solve the problem that no policy control can be exercised over application service flows without an application function (AF). The method includes of the following steps: a PCRF receiving information about an application event sent by a PCEF; and the PCRF generating a control policy for a service flow of the application according to the information about the application event, and delivering the control policy to the PCEF. In the present invention, the PCEF sends the obtained information about the application event to the PCRF, so that the PCRF can generate a control policy according to policy contexts including the information about the application event and the like, so as to exercise an effective policy control over the QoS guarantee, charging and gating of the service flow.

A communication method may be applied to a scenario in which a terminal is handed over from a source access network element to a target access network element, and the method includes: obtaining session information of a first session of the terminal, where the session information includes first service type information; obtaining first information, where the first information indicates service type information of local offloading supported by the target access network element; and if the target access network element supports local offloading of a service corresponding to the first service type information, determining that the target access network element processes the first session.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a gateway system and a communication method. The gateway system includes: a control plane entity, connected or integrated with a mobility management network element, and configured to allocate an IP address to UE and configure a data path for connecting a user plane entity with an RAN, a PDN or another gateway; one or more user plane entities, located between the PDN and the RAN, independent of the control plane entity, configured to forward data on the data path configured by the control plane entity. The gateway system is composed of the control plane entity and the user plane entity which are independent of each other, the number of the user plane entities may be independently changed to adapt to the change of network traffic without replacing all gateway entities, the network deployment is more convenient and the cost is lower.

The method includes: obtaining, by a terminal, display instruction information, an identifier of a first network slice that the terminal is allowed to access, and service feature information corresponding to the first network slice. The method includes: determining a to-be-installed flow entry and packet sending information; and sending, to a switch, a flow entry installation message carrying the to-be-installed flow entry and the packet sending information, so that the switch obtains the to-be-installed flow entry and the packet sending information from the flow entry installation message, installs the flow entry, and sends a packet according to the packet sending information. In the present invention, a controller sends a flow entry installation message carrying a to-be-installed flow entry and a packet sending message, where the to-be-installed flow entry and a to-be-sent packet are simultaneously sent, so that a switch simultaneously receives the to-be-installed flow entry and the to-be-sent packet, and performs flow entry installation and packet sending, thereby reducing unnecessary signaling exchange, and improving efficiency of flow entry installation and packet sending.
