Devices, systems and techniques are provided to facilitate chronic monitoring of biological signals. An implant device can include a set of branch portions. Each branch portion can include multiple electrodes disposed on a bottom surface and can have vias that connect the electrode to a trace on the top of the branch portion. Each branch portion can include a hole through which a connector (e.g., suture) can be pulled. The connector can also be threaded through a hole in a curved arm of an implantation tool, To implant the implant device, the implantation tool can be inserted through an incision, moved to a target location and stabilized. An end of the connector can then be pulled, which can cause the implant device to move to the target location. The implant device can then be stabilized and the implantation tool explanted.

The present disclosure relates to laparoscopic surgery, and in particular to laparoscopic ports for facilitating the implant of medical systems such as a neuromodulation system into the body of a patient. Particularly, aspects are directed to a cannula assembly having a cannula housing and a cannula sleeve comprising a sleeve body extending from a distal end of the cannula housing. The cannula sleeve has a semi-rectangular cross section including: (i) a rounded rectangular portion configured to accommodate feeding the neuromodulation system through the cannula assembly, and (ii) a circular portion configured to accommodate insertion of the one or more surgical instruments through the cannula assembly.

A method can include situating the electrostimulation device in tissue and before an affixation mechanism of the electrostimulation device is deployed to maintain an implanted position of the electrostimulation device, and while electrodes of the device are in contact with the tissue, performing electrical testing of the electrostimulation device to determine whether the electrostimulation from the electrostimulation device evokes a specified response from the body that contains the tissue.

A stimulation system can include one or more stimulating components, each of which can include one or more electrodes and one or more leads. Each lead can be connected at a first end of the lead to an electrode of the one or more electrodes and can be connected at a second end of the lead to a bonding pad of the one or more bonding pads. The stimulation system can also include a cylindrical substrate. Each stimulating component can be secured to a surface of the cylindrical substrate. The stimulation system can further include a skull-mount package that includes electronics that identify stimulation parameters. The bonding pads can be electrically connected to the electronics. The skull-mount package can further include one or more bonding pads. Each lead can be directly electrically and physically connected to a bonding pad of the one or more bonding pads.

An ophthalmic device includes an enclosure, an electromyography sensor, and a controller. The enclosure is configured to mount in or on an eye. The enclosure further includes a first material and a second material disposed within the first material. The electromyography sensor is adapted to measure electrical activity of a muscle of the eye proximate to a first annular region of the ophthalmic device when the ophthalmic device is mounted in or on the eye. The electromyography sensor includes a first electrode and a second electrode, each positioned within the first annular region between the first material and at least a portion of the second material. The controller, coupled to the electromyography sensor, stores instructions that when executed causes the ophthalmic device to perform operations including acquiring a first signal representative of the electrical activity of the muscle by measuring the electrical activity with the electromyography sensor.

An electrode cuff for placement around a peripheral nerve can include one or more protrusions extending from a tissue-contacting surface of the electrode cuff. A protrusion can include one or more electrodes and can have a blunt distal end. The protrusion(s) can be driven into the nerve using a driving tool designed to apply mechanical oscillations and/or swift mechanical force to the electrode cuff. The mechanical oscillations and/or swift mechanical force can insert the blunt distal ends of the protrusions into the nerve without damaging fascicles within the nerve. During implantation, a sensor associated with the driving tool and/or the electrode cuff can provide dynamic feedback to a controller for controlling the driving tool. The sensor may detect pressure, temperature, acoustic activity, and/or electrical activity to indicate when the protrusions have pierced the epineurium, allowing the controller to cease the driving tool and thus avoid damage to the fascicles.

The hybrid connector can include a connector body, a first connector end, and a second connector end. The first connector end can be attached to the connector body and can define a first opening having a first cross-sectional shape that corresponds to a first distal end of the strand. The second connector end can be attached to the connector body opposite the first connector end and can define a second opening having a second cross-sectional shape that corresponds to a second distal end of the bulk conductor.
