This disclosure relates to techniques for a wireless device to determine whether to display an indicator of millimeter wave cellular availability. A wireless device may establish a radio resource control connection that includes connectivity with a fifth generation new radio millimeter wave cell. The wireless device may determine to display an indication of millimeter wave cell availability. The wireless device may determine location status information and motion status information for the wireless device. The wireless device may determine when to cease displaying the indication of millimeter wave cell availability after the radio resource control connection is released or the millimeter wave cell is deconfigured based at least in part on the location status information for the wireless device and the motion status information for the wireless device.

Determining whether to display an indicator of millimeter wave cellular availability

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for EPS fallback when initiating a voice call while camped on a 5G cell. The UE may camp on a 5G network by performing an IMS registration procedure/IMS SIP invite procedure with an IMS. The UE may initiate a voice call and determine that the voice call cannot be established over the 5G NR network. In response, the UE may perform a TAU procedure or an attachment procedure with a cell of a 4G network. The IMS may be transferred to the 4G network during TAU/attachment procedure. The UE may, in response to determining that it is barred from the 4G network, transition back to the 5G network and transmit, to the 5G NR network, a SIP cancel request to allow a context associated with the UE to be cleared from the IMS.

5G NR voice call EPS fallback enhancements

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for enhancement of multi-SIM devices, such as UE. A network may increase paging retries for known MU-SIM devices, e.g., based on an indication of capabilities from a MU-SIM device. The indication may be via a NAS registration request, an RRC capability procedure, and/or an RRC UE assistance procedure. Additionally, a network may include an indication of a paging priority to the UE. The UE may then determine a response to the page based, at least in part, on the indicated priority. Further, the UE may indicate a tune-away to the network. The indication of the tune-away may include a cause and/or duration for the tune-away and may be provided at an RRC level or a network access stratum (NAS) level.

System enablers for multi-SIM devices

A wireless device may establish a wireless link with a cellular network via a cell that operates according to a first radio access technology. In some embodiments, a device is configured to perform voice communications over one or more wireless local area networks, communicate with a first network using a first cellular radio access technology (RAT), and communicate with a second network using a second cellular RAT. The device may store, based on communications via the first network, information indicating that the first network does not support voice communications for the apparatus. The device may handover a voice call from a wireless local network directly to the second cellular RAT, based on the stored information and without handover of the voice call to the first cellular RAT, based on call conditions on the wireless local area network.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for refreshing a Global Unique Temporary Identifier GUTI of a user equipment UE. The UE may receive a GUTI from an Access Mobility Function AMF as part of a registration process. After a timer has expired, the UE may receive a new GUTI from the AMF. The timer may be provided by the UE as a request for use by the AMF. Alternatively, the timer may be used by the UE and the UE may request the new GUTI upon expiry of the timer, e.g., using an existing message or a new message, as desired.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform detection and mitigation of data stalls. The mitigation may occur during and/or at initiation of a data connection. The wireless device may establish a data connection(s) with a network over a Wi-Fi or cellular interface and monitor the data connection(s) for a data stall condition(s)/hint(s). The wireless device may perform a remedial action(s) responsive to detection of a data stall condition(s)/hint(s), including initiating a service recovery of the cellular interface, initiating a radio access technology (RAT) upgrade procedure, and/or initiating a handover procedure to a neighbor cell.

The UE may be configured to perform one or more measurement scans associated with cell selection and/or cell re-selection and may determine whether at least two LTE cells meet a selection criteria based on RSRP and/or SNR measurements. The UE may be configured to, in response to determining that at least two LTE cells meet the selection criteria, prioritize a first LTE cell of the at least two LTE cells over a second LTE cell of the at least two LTE cells based, at least in part, on support EN-DC. The first LTE cell may indicate support of EN-DC, e.g., via a ULI IE included in a SIB2 broadcast by the first LTE cell. The UE may be configured to select the first LTE cell for camping.
