The present subject matter discloses a bioreactor apparatus. The bioreactor apparatus comprises a bioreactor vessel configured to culture cells. The bioreactor apparatus furthermore comprises a sensor configured to measure Dissolved Oxygen (DO) in the bioreactor vessel. The DO measurements comprise a plurality of DO values recorded at, at least, a plurality of time instances during operation of the bioreactor apparatus. The bioreactor apparatus furthermore comprises a controller configured to obtain the DO measurements. The controller furthermore is to determine, in real-time or approximately real-time, an oxygen mass transfer co-efficient (kLa) associated with the operation of the bioreactor apparatus. Furthermore, the controller is configured to control, in real-time or approximately real-time, at least one cell culture parameter associated with the operation of the bioreactor apparatus based on the kLa.

Bioreactor apparatus and operation method thereof

The present invention relates to a computer implemented method () for optimization of a bioprocessing system () formed by interconnected or interconnectable bioprocessing units and configured to provide a desired system functionality, the method comprising obtaining () requirement data of a bioprocess, the requirement data being at least indicative of the desired system functionality, and indicative of a desired substance resulting from the operation of the bioprocess system, obtaining () unit data indicative of characteristics of a plurality of bioprocessing units, generating () at least one optimized or suitable bioprocessing system configuration capable to provide the desired system functionality, the bioprocessing system configuration comprising a selection of bioprocessing units from the plurality of bioprocessing units selected using the requirement data, the unit data and an objective function dependent on the requirement data and the unit data. Method for optimization of a bioprocessing system

A method includes measuring, by a flow sensor (), a flow rate of a permeate fluid () flowing through a filter () of a membrane filtration system (). Further, the method includes receiving, by a control unit (), the measured flow rate of the permeate fluid () and determining, by the control unit (), a first flux rate of the filter () based on the measured flow rate of the permeate fluid (). Furthermore, the method includes comparing, by the control unit (), the determined first flux rate with a first predetermined flux rate. Additionally, the method includes operating the membrane filtration system (), by the control unit (), in a normal mode or a flux tolerant mode based on the comparison of the determined first flux rate with the first predetermined flux rate. The flux tolerant mode of the membrane filtration system () is further based on a determined normalized water permeability value of the filter ().
