Systems and methods described herein synchronize events between various components of storage device during the processing of an exception (i.e., an internal error). The storage device can have a plurality of processors which may each coordinate operations on various domains of storage device processing tasks. An exception occurring in one domain may require input and coordination from other domains within the storage device. Each exception may have a list of predetermined steps needed for completion which are coordinated via a series of sync points placed between exception action clusters which perform a series of specific operations until data or processing from another domain is needed to continue processing. The sync points can be utilized to halt processing in one domain until the other domains are in sync and complete one or more exception action operations. In this way, a streamlined and predictable synchronization between domains may occur during an exception.

Distributed exception handling in solid state drives

A memory card has a plurality of pads including a first set of pads located to connect with host contacts arranged in a first configuration for communication according to the micro Secure Digital (microSD) standard, a second set of pads located to connect with host contacts arranged in a second configuration for communication according to the Peripheral Component Interface express (PCIe) protocol, and a third set of pads located to connect with host contacts arranged in a third configuration for communication according to the Universal Flash Storage (UFS) standard. The plurality of pads includes one or more common pads that are common to the second set of pads and the third set of pads.

Memory card operable with multiple host interfaces

A storage system and method for dynamic selection of a host interface are provided. In one embodiment, a storage system is provided comprising a memory and a controller. The controller is configured to receive, from a host, a selection of a first host interface; in response to receiving the selection of the first host interface, implement the first host interface; after the first host interface has been implemented, receive, from the host, a selection of a second host interface; and in response to receiving the selection of the second host interface, implement the second host interface even though the first host interface was previously implemented. Storage system and method for dynamic selection of a host interface

A dual-interface storage system and method for use therewith are provided. In one embodiment, the storage system comprises a memory; a connector compatible with both a first host interface and a second host interface; a first data path to at least a part of the memory comprising the first host interface and a controller for the first host interface; a second data path to at least another part of the memory comprising the second host interface and a controller for the second host interface; and a switch configured to connect the connector to either the first data path or the second data path in response to a command from a host.
