Two-cycle engine includes cylinder block formed with a cylinder and crank chamber. The cylinder block includes: an exhaust passage leading to a combustion chamber in the cylinder through an exhaust port opened to an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; a scavenging port opened to the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; a communication passage extending from the scavenging port in a radial direction of the cylinder; and a scavenging passage extending in an axial direction of the cylinder, communicating with the crank chamber, and having an opening portion formed in a bottom surface of the communication passage. A ceiling surface of the communication passage is inclined toward a cylinder head with increasing distance from a scavenging passage side thereof toward the scavenging port. A bottom surface of the communication passage is inclined toward the crank chamber with increasing distance from a scavenging passage side thereof toward the scavenging port.

Two-cycle engine

Provided is a stratified scavenging engine and a portable work machine that suppress THC sufficiently. A stratified scavenging engine includes: a cylinder having a cylinder bore; and a piston stored in the cylinder bore to be movable in a reciprocating manner. The cylinder has an intake port to intake leading air and a scavenging port to scavenge combustion gas, the intake port and the scavenging port being open to the cylinder bore. The piston has a peripheral surface including a piston groove to guide leading air from the intake port to the scavenging port, and the piston groove has a recess near the intake port.

Stratified scavenging engine and portable work machine

An engine-driven working machine includes a controller, which varies a control value of a solenoid valve so as to decrease or increase an opening degree of the solenoid valve when a rotating speed of an engine is within a predetermined high rotating speed range and the rotating speed of the engine is lower or higher than a predetermined rotating speed, respectively. When the control value of the solenoid valve is varied so as to decrease the opening degree of the solenoid valve and corresponds to a predetermined opening degree larger than a fully-closed state, the control value is set to a limitation value.

Handheld engine-driven working machine

An engine-driven working machine includes a controller, which varies a control value of a solenoid valve so as to decrease or increase an opening degree of the solenoid valve when a rotating speed of an engine is within a predetermined high rotating speed range and the rotating speed of the engine is lower or higher than a predetermined rotating speed, respectively. In case the controller determines that the engine-driven working machine gets started saw cutting, the controller stops varying the control value of the solenoid valve when the rotating speed of the engine is within the predetermined high rotating speed range and lower than the target rotating speed.

Two-stroke internal combustion engine

A two-stroke internal combustion engine that emits exhaust gases with reduced amounts of noxious components, such as HC, and has less blow-by of unburned air-fuel mixture has a crank chamber located below a piston and a combustion actuating chamber located above the piston. Either one pair or two pairs of scavenging passageways communicate the crank chamber with the combustion actuating chamber, the scavenging passageways of the one pair or of each of the two pairs being disposed symmetrically with respect to a plane that bisects an exhaust port so as to form a Schn&uuml;rle-type scavenging system. Each scavenging passageway is throttled at a location proximate to a scavenging inlet port thereof.

A loop scavenge two-cycle internal combustion engine that includes a partial wall partition disposed between a scavenging path and a cylinder bore, with a cooling port formed in the partial wall partition for enabling fresh gas in the scavenging path to contact directly with a peripheral wall of a piston in the cylinder. The fresh gas in the scavenging path directly contacts and efficiently cools the peripheral surface of the piston to prevent heat rise and distortion within the engine. The partial wall partition and cooling port maximize both cooling efficiently and cylinder strength and durability.

Two-cycle internal combustion engine and cylinder

A two-stroke internal combustion engine in a working machine such as a chain saw has been prone to stalling when the stance of the machine was changed from slanting down to slanting up. Such stalling is minimized when lower longitudinal scavenging passage in the cylinder block of the engine have smaller cross section as compared with upper scavenging passage, and when the crank chamber of the engine includes a flow restricting portion for impeding the flow of liquid fuel into the lower scavenging passage when the stance is changed. The engine has a cylinder block (12), a crankcase (20), scavenging passages (27, 27), and a flow restricting portion (40) on an inner peripheral surface (22a) of the crank chamber (22).
