A display device includes: a pixel electrode formed in a display area; an organic layer formed on the pixel electrode and including a light emitting layer; a counter electrode formed on the organic layer; a sealing layer formed on the counter electrode; a drive circuit formed in a picture-frame area as an area outside the display area and controlling light emission of the light emitting layer; a first test electrode formed in the picture-frame area and electrically separated from the drive circuit; and a picture-frame insulating layer formed on the first test electrode.

Display device and manufacturing method thereof

A manufacturing method of a display device in an embodiment according to the present invention, the method includes forming a terminal electrode in a terminal part of a first substrate, forming a pixel electrode corresponding to each pixel in a pixel part of the first substrate, forming a first intermediate layer in a region including the terminal electrode of the terminal part, forming an organic layer above the pixel electrode in the pixel part, forming a counter electrode layer above the first substrate including the pixel part and the terminal part, forming a passivation layer above the counter electrode layer, arranging a second substrate opposing the pixel part and bonding the first substrate and the second substrate using a sealing member enclosing the pixel part, and removing the first intermediate layer, the counter electrode layer and the passivation layer in the terminal part.

Display device and method of manufacturing a display device

A display device provided with a display region composed of a plurality of pixels. The display device includes a first substrate including at least one spacer that is formed so as to surround the display region, and an inorganic film that is formed of an inorganic material and covers at least a top and an outer side surface of the at least one spacer, a second substrate that is disposed opposed to the first substrate and a bonding layer that is disposed inside the at least one spacer, bonds the first substrate and the second substrate with each other, and is made of an organic material.

Recently, with an increasing demand for narrowing a frame, the seal line width is inclined to get finer, which deteriorates the seal adhesive strength. One or a plurality of grooves are formed in a resin layer that is a foundation of a seal area. A direction of forming a groove (lateral surface) is preferably in a vertical direction to the external stress. In a seal straight portion, a groove is preferably formed not only in a parallel direction to the seal but also in the vertical direction. In a seal corner portion, a groove is preferably formed in a shape curved convexly toward a direction of a display area (active area).

Display device

According to one embodiment, an organic EL device includes an insulating substrate, first and second interlayer insulators, pixel electrodes, an organic layer, and a counter electrode. The first interlayer insulator is positioned above the insulating substrate. The second interlayer insulator is positioned on the first interlayer insulator and provided with slits. The pixel electrodes are arranged on the second interlayer insulator. Two or more of the pixels are adjacent to each other with one of regions corresponding to the slits interposed therebetween. The organic layer is positioned on the pixel electrodes and includes an emitting layer. The counter electrode is positioned above the organic layer.
