The subject invention provides novel compositions of biologically active compounds which can advantageously be used in blocking cellular proliferation and/or treatment of cancer. Exemplified are: 

Biologically active aphrocallistin compounds

The subject invention provides novel compositions of biologically active macrolide compounds which can advantageously be used in blocking cellular proliferation, treatment of cancer, treatment of fungal infections and control of spoilage of food, cosmetic and other consumer items.

The subject invention provides novel compositions of biologically active discorhabdin compounds which can advantageously be used for inhibiting pathological cellular proliferation. The compounds of the subject invention have utility for use in the treatment of cancer, including tumors.

Discorhabdin compounds and methods of use

Dictyostatin-1 has been found to stabilize microtubules and prohibit their depolymerization to free tubulin. Because of these activities, the dictyostatin compounds can be used in the treatment of a number of diseases in which aberrant cellular proliferation occurs such as drug-sensitive and drug-resistant cancers, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory diseases.

Compositions and uses of dictyostatin compounds

The subject invention pertains to compounds which are useful as anti-inflammatory agents and to compositions containing such compounds as active ingredients. The novel uses of the compounds relate to the anti-neurogenic inflammatory properties of the disclosed compounds. Specifically exemplified herein is the use of manzamines A, B, C, D, E, and F, and their salts, analogs, and derivatives.

Anti-inflammatory uses of manzamines

The subject invention pertains to compounds which are useful as anti-inflammatory agents and to compositions containing such compounds as active ingredients. The novel uses of the compounds relate to the anti-neurogenic inflammatory properties of the disclosed bis-heterocyclic compounds. Specifically exemplified herein are dragmacidin f, topsentin d, and topsentin e, and their salts, analogs, and derivatives.

Compounds and methods of use for treatment of neurogenic inflammation

The novel compositions and methods of the subject invention can be used in antifugal applications. The antifugal agents of the subject invention can be used in the treatment of an animal or human having a fugal infection. In a further embodiment the compounds can be used to treat plant fugal infections, disinfect surfaces, and prevent spoilage of organic compositions such as food and cosmetics.

Cyclic peroxides as novel antifungal agents

The subject invention provides novel compositions of biologically active discodermolide compounds which can advantageously be used for immunomodulation and/or treating cancer. The compounds of the subject invention have utility for use in the treatment of cancer, as tubulin polymerizers and as microtubule stabilization agents. The present invention also pertains to the identification of regions of the discodermolide molecule which are responsible for certain aspects of the bioactivity of discodermolide compounds.

Biologically active analogs of discodermolide

The subject invention provides novel biologically active compounds which are useful for inhibiting cellular proliferation. Because of the biological activity of these compounds, they can be used for immunomodulation and/or treating cancer. In a preferred embodiment, the novel compounds, compositions and methods of use of the subject invention can advantageously be used to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in a mammalian host. More particularly, the subject compounds can be used for inhibiting in a human the growth of tumor cells, including cells of breast, colon, CNS, ovarian, renal, prostate, bone, gastrointestinal, stomach, testicular, or lung tumors, as well as human leukemia or melanoma cells. Specifically exemplified are discalamides A and B.

Discalamide compounds and their use as anti-proliferative agents

The subject invention concerns eryloside F, a novel disaccharide of the steroidal carboxylic acid penasterol. This compound can be isolated from an extract of the marine sponge . The compound is a potent thrombin receptor antagonist and, furthermore, inhibits human platelet aggregation. Longer chain penasterol oligosaccharides were also isolated and characterized but these had weaker activity than eryloside F. The subject invention also concerns methods for inhibiting thrombin receptor activity and methods for inhibiting platelet aggregation through the administration of eryloside F, or a salt, derivative or analog thereof.
