A terminal connection portion, which includes an IC including a plurality of input bumps and a plurality of output bumps, and a terminal connection portion including a plurality of input terminal electrodes and a plurality of output terminal electrodes, is provided in a frame region, and in the terminal connection portion, an electrode insulating film is provided on the input terminal electrodes and the output terminal electrodes. A protruding portion is provided on the electrode insulating film, and the protruding portion overlaps with the IC in a plan view, and overlaps with the input bumps and the output bumps when viewed from a direction parallel to a substrate surface of a resin substrate layer.

There is provided an optical pickup apparatus. In an optical pickup apparatus, a focus diffraction region includes focus regions of which a number of types is equal to a number of types of light that can be emitted by a light source. The types of the focus regions correspond to the respective types of light, the respective focus regions diffract the corresponding types of light toward same positions of focus light-receiving regions. The focus regions include a plurality of focus segmented regions. The plurality of focus segmented regions of the respective types of focus regions are periodically distributed in the focus diffraction region, and at least some of the focus segmented regions are disposed to be adjacent to focus segmented regions for different types of light.

In a diffractive element, its grating pattern is so configured that a diffraction angle of a diffracted light beam of a light source that is subject to the first-order diffraction in a diffraction area is matched with an angle of a light beam passing through the diffractive area emitted from a light source and a light source position is matched with a light originating point of the light source that emits a light beam to be transmitted, and the center of light intensity distribution is matched with that of the light source passing through the diffractive element by inclining an optical axis of the light source. A position of the diffractive element is adjusted based on an electric current value generated when a reflected return path light beam of the light source is diffracted by the diffractive element and enters the light source.

An optical pickup apparatus is provided. Segmented regions included in a focus diffraction region includes focus segmented regions corresponding in number with different light emitted by a light source. Different focus segmented regions are arranged adjacent to each other alternately in a direction perpendicular to a parallel dividing line. Segmented regions included in a tracking diffraction region includes tracking segmented regions corresponding in number with different light emitted by the light source. Optical pickup apparatus

Provided is an optical pickup apparatus that can be made compact and is capable of producing stable push-pull signals. The optical pickup apparatus includes a light source, an objective lens, a diffraction element, a light-receiving element, and a control-driving section. The diffraction element receives light reflected from an optical recording medium. The light-receiving element receives light beams diffracted by the diffraction element. The light-receiving element has a plurality of light-receiving regions. The light-receiving region produces an output signal responsive to the quantity of the incident light beam. The control-driving section obtains differences among the output signals from a plurality of the light-receiving regions by calculation to derive a push-pull signal, and drives the objective lens under control on the basis of the push-pull signal.

A diffracting portion is disposed in an optical path between a light source and an optical disc. The diffracting portion diffracts the reflected light from recording layers of the optical disc toward a light receiving portion. The diffracting portion includes a first diffraction region having a first diffraction efficiency and a second diffraction region having a second diffraction efficiency lower than the first diffraction efficiency. The first diffraction region includes a FES diffracting portion and first to fourth TES diffracting portions. The second diffraction region includes fifth and sixth TES diffracting portions. First-order diffraction lights from the non-light-collecting recording layer enter on the fifth and the sixth TES diffracting portions, and are diffracted toward the light receiving portion by the fifth and the sixth TES diffracting portions.

There is provided an optical pickup apparatus and a beam splitter which are capable of suppressing an adverse effect resulting from light reflected by a non-light-condensed layer that is different from a light-condensed layer. In respective TES light-receiving sections, interposed light-receiving elements are disposed so as to be adjacent to first sub beam-receiving elements. The interposed light-receiving elements are disposed away from both of positions where a main beam reflected by a light-condensing recording layer is condensed and where respective sub beams reflected by the light-condensing recording layer are condensed, and disposed so as to be adjacent to the first sub beam-receiving elements. A hologram element provided in an optical pickup apparatus for recording information onto a recording medium and/or reproducing information on the recording medium by use of light includes fourth and fifth divisions where at least first-order diffracted light among diffracted light beams obtained by reflection and diffraction on a recording layer other than a light-condensed recording layer on which light is condensed by an objective lens so as not to be directed toward first and second light-receiving elements for detecting focus position information and third to eighth light-receiving elements for detecting track position information.

An optical pickup includes a hologram element. The hologram element is provided with a hologram pattern including a splitting section for focus which splits light used for the detection of an FES and a splitting section for tracking which splits light used for the detection of a TES. The splitting section for tracking is formed in a region excluding a region interposed between a first virtual straight line and a second virtual straight line. The first virtual straight line is drawn on the hologram element in parallel to an X direction and passes through an optical axis of reflected light entering the hologram element in a state where the objective lens is in a neutral position, and the second virtual straight line is drawn in parallel to the first virtual straight line, while being spaced at a distance d from the first virtual straight line.
