A light absorption anisotropic layer which has high contrast and can suppress hue change of an image reflected by surroundings relative to an original image when used in a viewing angle control system, an optical film using the light absorption anisotropic layer, a viewing angle control system, and an image display device. The light absorption anisotropic layer is formed of a liquid crystal composition containing a liquid crystalline compound, a dichroic substance, and an alignment agent. The liquid crystalline compound is in a liquid crystal state of a smectic phase, a content of the dichroic substance is 5.0% by mass or more with respect to a total solid content mass of the liquid crystal composition, and an angle θ between a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal direction of a surface of the light absorption anisotropic layer is between 0° and 45°.

Light absorption anisotropic layer, optical film, viewing angle control system, and image display device

A light absorption anisotropic film that displays a bright, clear image in a desired direction and makes the image invisible from other than the desired direction using an image display device, a viewing angle control system formed of the light absorption anisotropic film, and an image display device formed of the light absorption anisotropic film. The light absorption anisotropic film includes a light absorption anisotropic layer that contains a liquid crystal compound and an organic dichroic substance, where an angle between an alignment direction of a light absorption axis of the organic dichroic substance on one surface and on the other surface of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal line of the light absorption anisotropic layer is defined as θA and θB, a difference between the angle θA and the angle θB is 15° or less, and the angle θA is 5° or greater and less than 45°.

Light absorption anisotropic film, viewing angle control system, and image display device

Provided is a spot welding method capable of reliably welding a metal sheet laminate while suppressing occurrence of expulsion. In the spot welding method, a pulse current is applied in a first current application step and a second current application step by a DC chopping control method. In the DC chopping control method, a pulse waveform of the pulse current is generated by switching between current application and current application stop to a pair of electrodesandby a current switch, a peak current value of the pulse current in the first current application step is set to a value Aequal to that of the pulse current in the second current application step, and a power of the pulse current in the first current application step is set to a value larger than that of the pulse current in the second current application step.

The optical film includes a light absorption anisotropic layer which contains a liquid crystalline compound and a dichroic substance, in which an angle θ between a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal direction of a surface of the light absorption anisotropic layer is 0° or more and 45° or less, and a haze value of the optical film is more than 1% and 20% or less.

The light absorption anisotropic film is formed of a composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance, in which the light absorption anisotropic film has two main surfaces facing each other, an angle between a normal direction of the main surface of the light absorption anisotropic film and a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic film is 0° to 45°, and predetermined requirements are satisfied depending on the angle.

Light absorption anisotropic film, optical film, and image display device

Provided is a viewing angle control system and an image display device which are capable of controlling the viewing angle of a display screen in a longitudinal direction and improving the visibility in a specific lateral direction. The viewing angle control system includes a polarizer, and a light absorption anisotropic layer, in which the polarizer has an in-plane absorption axis in a film, an angle θ between a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal line of the film is in a range of 0.1° to 45°, and an angle φ between a direction in which the transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer is orthographically projected onto the film surface and the absorption axis of the polarizer is 0° or greater and less than 85°, greater than 95° and less than 265°, or greater than 275° and 360° or less.

Viewing angle control system and image display device

Provided is an optically anisotropic film, an optical film, and a display device, which have a high contrast and excellent light fastness. The optically anisotropic film includes a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance, in which the liquid crystal compound is vertically aligned, the dichroic substance forms an arrangement structure, and in a case where, in a cross section observed with a scanning transmission electron microscope, a length of a major axis of the arrangement structure is defined as L, and a length of a minor axis of the arrangement structure is defined as D, 16 or more arrangement structures satisfying L≥30 nm are observed per 40 μm.

Optically anisotropic film, optical film, and display device

Backlight unit and liquid crystal display device

A transparent film includes: a base material; and at least one scratch resistant layer of which indentation hardness is 300 MPa or greater and of which a thickness is 50 to 1,000 nm on an outermost surface of the transparent film at one side or both sides of the base material, and a number of times of folding endurance of the transparent film measured by an MIT testing machine according to JIS P8115 (2001) is 1,000 times or greater.
