A washing and drying machine includes a water tank, a rotary drum, an irradiating light source and control means. The rotary drum is rotatably supported in the water tank. The irradiating light source is for emitting a light beam including ultra-violet ray to the inside of the rotary drum. The control means controls the irradiating light source such that the light beam including the ultra-violet ray is emitted to the inside of the rotary drum after the end of the drying process.

A heat exchanging apparatus includes a composite structure of a ferrosoferric oxide and a molybdenum oxide at the internal surface of a heat exchange cycle tube located in a generator. A process of suppressing corrosion of this heat exchanging apparatus includes the step of preparing an ammonia solution including dissolved oxygen of a concentration of approximately 3-8 ppm. Approximately 1 wt %-5 wt % molybdate is added into the ammonia solution. This ammonia solution is sealed within the heat exchange cycle tube to be heated to at least a predetermined temperature in the generator of the heat exchanging apparatus. Thus, a composite structure of a ferrosoferric oxide and molybdenum oxide is formed on the internal surface of the generator. This composite structure allows the suppression of corrosion in the internal surface of the generator.

A refrigerator comprising a refrigeration cycle which comprises a compressor, condenser, first capillary tube and first cooler connected into a loop, and a quick freezing refrigerant circuit connected in parallel with the first cooler and comprising a second capillary tube and a second cooler connected in series therewith. The refrigerant is passed through the first cooler for usual operation, or alternatively through the quick freezing circuit for quick freezing. During quick freezing, the first cooler is held out of operation, and the refrigerant has its pressure reduced in two steps by the first and second capillary tubes and is evaporated in the second cooler only, giving a low temperature effective for quick freezing. During usual operation, no refrigerant flows into the second cooler, which therefore remains free of frosting. The frost deposited on the second cooler during quick freezing disappears during the usual operation. Thus, the second cooler is substantially free from frost.
