R is selected from rare earth elements, M is selected from Ti, Zr, and Hf, p is a number satisfying 10.5≤p≤12.5 at %, r is a number satisfying 18≤r≤32 at %, s is a number satisfying 0.88≤s≤4.5 at %, and t is a number satisfying 0.88≤t≤13.5 at %. When a proportion rof Fe to a total sum of Fe and Co is expressed by r=r/(100−p−s−t), a value rof the proportion rat a center in a q-axis direction of the magnet and a value rof the proportion rat a center in d-axis direction of the magnet satisfy 1.01≤r/r≤2.

A magnet material of an embodiment includes a composition represented by a formula 1: (FeCoT)(BA), and a metallic structure having a CuAlcrystal phase as a main phase. T is at least one element selected from V, Cr, and Mn. A is at least one element selected from C, N, Si, S, P, and Al. An atomic ratio x of Co and an atomic ratio y of the element T satisfy 0.01&#x2264;y&#x2264;0.5 and x+y&#x2264;0.5. When the element T includes at least one element selected from V and Cr, a total atomic ratio of V and Cr is 0.03 or more. When the element T includes Mn, an atomic ratio of Mn is 0.3 or less. An atomic ratio a of the element A satisfies 0&#x2264;a&#x2264;0.4. A total atomic ratio b of B and the element A satisfies 0.8&#x2264;b&#x2264;1.2.

Magnet material, permanent magnet, motor, and power generator

A high-performance permanent magnet is provided. A permanent magnet expressed by a composition formula: RFeMCuCo. The magnet comprises a metal structure including a cell phase having a ThZncrystal phase, and a Cu-rich phase provided to divide the cell phase and having a Cu concentration higher than that of the ThZncrystal phase. An Fe concentration of the ThZncrystal phase is not less than 30 atomic % nor more than 45 atomic %. An average length of the Cu-rich phase is not less than 30 nm nor more than 250 nm.

In one embodiment, a permanent magnet includes a composition expressed by RFeMCuCo(R is a rare-earth element, M is at least one element selected from Zr, Ti, and Hf, 10&#x2264;p&#x2264;13.5 at %, 28&#x2264;q&#x2264;40 at %, 0.88&#x2264;r&#x2264;7.2 at %, and 3.5&#x2264;s&#x2264;13.5 at %), and a metallic structure including a cell phase having a ThZncrystal phase, and a cell wall phase. A Fe concentration (C1) in the cell phase is in a range from 28 at % to 45 at %, and a difference (C1&#x2212;C2) between the Fe concentration (C1) in the cell phase and a Fe concentration (C2) in the cell wall phase is larger than 10 at %.

Permanent magnet, and motor and power generator using the same

A permanent magnet is expressed by a composition formula: RFeMCuCo. The magnet comprises a metal structure including a main phase having a ThZncrystal phase and a grain boundary phase. The main phase includes a cell phase having the ThZncrystal phase and a Cu-rich phase. A section including a c-axis of the ThZncrystal phase has a first region in the crystal grain and a second region in the crystal grain, the first region is provided in the cell phase divided by the Cu-rich phase, the second region is provided within a range of not less than 50 nm nor more than 200 nm from the grain boundary phase in a direction perpendicular to an extension direction of the grain boundary phase, and a difference between a Cu concentration of the first region and a Cu concentration of the second region is 0.5 atomic percent or less.

A high-performance permanent magnet is provided. A permanent magnet expressed by a composition formula: (RA)FeMCuCo. The magnet comprises a metal structure including a plurality of crystal grains which constitutes a main phase having a ThZncrystal phase, An Fe concentration of each of the crystal grains is 28 atomic % or more. A concentration difference of the element A among the crystal grains is not less than 0.2 atomic % nor more than 3.0 atomic %.

A magnetic material is expressed by a composition formula: (RZ)MT, and includes a main phase having a ThMncrystal structure. In the ThMncrystal structure, when an amount of the element Z occupying 2a site is Zatomic percent, an amount of the element Z occupying 8i site is Zatomic percent, an amount of the element Z occupying 8j site is Zatomic percent, and an amount of the element Z occupying 8f site is Zatomic percent, Z, Z, Z, and Zsatisfy (Z+Z+Z)/(Z+Z+Z+Z)&#x3c;0.1.

A permanent magnet expressed by a composition formula: RFeMCuCo. The magnet comprises a metallic structure including crystal grains which constitutes a main phase having a ThZncrystal phase. A method of manufacturing a permanent magnet comprises a solution heat treatment. The solution heat treatment includes: performing a heat treatment at a temperature T; placing a cooling member including a first layer and a second layer on the first layer between the heater and the treatment object so that the first layer faces the treatment object; and transferring the treatment object together with the cooling member to the outside of a heating chamber, and cooling the treatment object until a temperature of the treatment object becomes a temperature lower than a temperature T&#x2212;200&#xb0; C. In the step of cooling the treatment object, a cooling rate until the temperature of the treatment object becomes the temperature T&#x2212;200&#xb0; C. is 5&#xb0; C./s or more.
