A method of forming liquid crystal cell for a color display device includes forming a liquid crystal layer and a prism structure between top and bottom substrates. Forming the prism structure includes forming a lens shaped die, coating a low refractive index resin on the lens shaped die, pasting the lens shaped die to the top substrate, and irradiating the coated low refractive index resin so as to set the low refractive index resin and form a low refractive index layer. The lens shaped die is removed from the low refractive index layer, a high refractive index resin is coated on the low refractive index layer by use of a planarizing die. The coated high refractive index resin is irradiated so as to set the high refractive index resin and form a high refractive index layer, and the planarizing die is removed from the high refractive index layer.

Color filterless display device, optical element, and manufacture

A method of forming an optical element for a color display device includes forming a lens shaped die, coating a low refractive index photo-setting resin on the lens shaped die, pasting the lens shaped die to a substrate, and irradiating the coated low refractive index photo-setting resin so as to set the low refractive index resin and form a low refractive index layer. The lens shaped die is removed from the low refractive index layer set on the substrate, a high refractive index photo-setting resin is coated on the low refractive index layer by use of a planarizing die, and the coated high refractive index photo-setting resin is irradiated so as to set the high refractive index resin and form a high refractive index layer. The planarizing die is then from the high refractive index layer set on the low refractive index layer.

A driver for driving a display panel having a light emitting element includes a plurality of control pads, each of which is electrically connected to a control line of the display panel; and a plurality of power source pads, each of which is electrically connected to a power source line of the display panel and is larger in area than the control pad. The control pads and the power source pads are arranged in line and an order of arrangement of the control pads and the power source pads is symmetrical with respect to a direction of pad arrangement.

A image display device includes a driving unit that includes a first terminal and a second terminal, and controls current flowing through a light emitting unit based on a potential difference applied between the first terminal and the second terminal. The potential difference is higher than a predetermined drive threshold. The image display device also includes a threshold potential detecting unit that detects the potential difference; a luminance potential supplying unit that changes the potential difference to a value lower than the drive threshold by a luminance potential corresponding to a luminance of the light emitting unit; and a sweep potential supplying unit that controls the driving unit by supplying a sweep potential to the first terminal. The sweep potential is swept in a range between a value lower than the luminance potential and a value higher than the luminance potential.

An image display apparatus includes a current-controlled light emitting; a transistor which controls a first current flowing through the current-controlled light emitting diode, based on a first voltage applied between the gate and the source of the transistor at a light emitting phase; a capacitor arranged between the gate and the source. Upon obtaining a threshold voltage, a conductive member connected to the electric light emitting element is made to be a floating state to cause the driver element to become on-state, variations in the potential of the conductive member caused by charges passing through the driver element to flow into the conductive member are detected by a threshold voltage detector to obtain the threshold voltage of the driver element.
