A semiconductor laser device includes a laser section and a modulator section. The laser section has: a first mesa stripe which is formed on a semiconductor substrate; semi-insulative burying layers which are placed to abut on both side surfaces of the first mesa stripe and are formed on the semiconductor substrate; n-type burying layers formed on respective surfaces of the semi-insulative burying layers; and a p-type cladding layer which covers surfaces of the n-type burying layers and the first mesa stripe. The modulator section has: a second mesa stripe which is formed on the semiconductor substrate; semi-insulative burying layers which are placed to abut on both side surfaces of the second mesa stripe and are formed on the semiconductor substrate; and a p-type cladding layer which covers surfaces of the semi-insulative burying layers and the second mesa stripe.

An electro-absorption modulator of the invention is an electro-absorption modulator which is formed on an InP substrate and modulate incident light according to a voltage applied to that modulator, and which comprises a light absorbing layer for absorbing a portion of the incident light by using an electric field generated by the applied voltage; wherein the light absorbing layer is comprised of a ternary or more complex III-V semiconductor mixed crystal that does not contain Al but contains Bi.

A search execution part of a mobile terminal device searches for pictogram data from a search site on the Internet by use of an input character string serving as a keyword, thus displaying them as translation candidates in a translation candidate display area. When a thumbnail image, corresponding to pictogram data, is selected from among the displayed translation candidates, real image data of the corresponding pictogram is downloaded from the search site. A list display generation part forwards the downloaded image data to an email editing part, and then the email editing part displays the downloaded image data, which may be subjected to an editing process, at the position of character string data in a character input area (i.e. a display area during email generation).

Provided is a caller information displaying method capable of displaying caller information with latest data registered in a cellular phone on a Bluetooth device at an earlier timing. The caller information displaying method according to an exemplary embodiment is a caller information displaying method for displaying caller information on a Bluetooth devicecapable of establishing a Bluetooth communication with a cellular phone, the method including: updating, by the cellular phone, incoming call history dataupon receiving an incoming call, and transmitting, to the Bluetooth device, caller information corresponding to a latest incoming call history in the updated incoming call history data; and receiving, by the Bluetooth device, the caller information transmitted from the cellular phone, and displaying the received caller information.
