An existing diesel engine vehicle of light oil fuel is enabled to run as a diesel engine vehicle using DME as fuel without exchanging a whole diesel engine and at very low cost and easily. The shape of a tip partof a needle valveis set by a center diameter Lfor regulating a minimum flow path area at full lift of a fuel injection nozzle, a seat diameter Lof a seat partcoming in contact with a valve seat partand blocking communication with a fuel injection hole, and a shaft diameter L, and a tip end angle is about 92 degrees. The center diameter Lis set to &#x3c6;2.5 mm, the seat diameter Lis set to &#x3c6;3.0 mm, and the shaft diameter Lis set to &#x3c6;3.25 mm. The ratio of the center diameter Land the seat diameter Lis L/L=2.5 mm/3.0 mm=about 0.833, and the ratio of the seat diameter Land the shaft diameter Lis L/L=3.0 mm/3.25 mm=about 0.92.

Fuel injection nozzle for DME fuel, and diesel engine including the fuel injection nozzle for DME fuel

In the DME fuel supply device for a diesel engine, the time necessary to retrieve DME fuel remaining in the injection system after stopping the diesel engine into the fuel tank can be reduced. In a non-injection state, a three-way valve () is controlled to be OFF to form a communication passage in the direction indicated by the arrow B and a two-way valve () is controlled to be ON. DME fuel delivered from a feed pump () is delivered to an aspirator (), passed from an inlet () to the outlet () thereof and returned to a fuel tank (). That is, the DME fuel circulates via the aspirator. A vapor-phase pressure delivery pipe switching solenoid valve () is controlled to be ON and opened so that flow can pass through a vapor-phase pressure delivery pipe () connecting the vapor-phase () in the fuel tank () and the inlet of the fuel gallery (). DME fuel in a liquid state remaining in the fuel gallery (), an overflow fuel pipes () and () is delivered under pressure to a suction port () by the high pressure of the vapor-phase ().

DME fuel supply device for diesel engine

Since an aspiratoris disposed at a position lower than a fuel galleryand an overflow fuel pipe, DME fuel remaining in the fuel galleryand the overflow fuel pipecan be more efficiently retrieved to a fuel tankby a combined force of gravity and suction force produced in a suction portof the aspirator. Since the vapor-phase pressure delivery pipe opening/closing solenoid valveis disposed at a position higher than the fuel gallery, DME fuel in a liquid state remaining in the fuel galleryand the overflow fuel pipeis forcedly delivered under pressure to the suction portof the aspiratorby a combined force of gravity and the pressure of a vapor phasein the fuel tank. Accordingly, time taken to retrieve the DME fuel in an injection system to the fuel tank after the stop of a diesel engine.

Liquefied gas-fuel supply device for diesel engine

A bypass controller () controls ON/OFF of a three-way electromagnetic valve () according to a detection value of a cam chamber sensor (). When the cam chamber sensor () detects a viscosity of lubricant exceeding a predetermined allowable value, the three-way electromagnetic valve () is controlled to turn ON so that the output side of an oil separator () communicates with a bypass route (). The pressure in the cam chamber () is reduced to or below the atmospheric pressure by suction of a compressor () with a check valve () regulating the pressure in the cam chamber () to the atmospheric pressure or above in the bypassed state. When the detection value of the viscosity of the lubricant output by the cam chamber sensor () has become the predetermined allowable value or below, the three-way electromagnetic valve () is controlled to turn OFF so that the output side of the oil separator () communicates with the check valve () and the bypass route () is cut off.

In an injection pump element, a communication route for communicating an injection pipeconnected to a fuel liquid outletand an inner peripheral surface of a plunger barrelis formed by a purge passageformed in a delivery valve seat, a purge passageformed in the plunger barrel, and a purge port. When the injection pump elementis in a non-injection state, the plungeris rotated circumferentially to such a rotational position that a purge grooveformed in an outer peripheral surface of the plungerand a purge portformed in an inner peripheral surface of the plunger barrelare communicated to each other. The purge grooveis communicated to a fuel galleryvia a holeand a notch. When the injection pump elementis in the non-injection state, the injection pipeis communicated to the fuel galleryeven if the delivery valveis closed.

Fuel injection nozzle

A flowmeter which obtains the flow rate of a fluid by detecting the rotational speed of an impeller is provided with a transmitter for transmitting a laser beam or ultrasonic wave to the tip end of the rotating impeller, a receiver for capturing the laser beam or ultrasonic wave reflected by the impeller, and a data processing unit for calculating the difference between the frequency of signals captured by the receiver and the frequency of signals transmitted by the transmitter and for calculating the rotational speed of the impeller based on the calculated values.

Flowmeter having reversible transmitter and receiver

A plurality of injection holes are circumferentially arranged in the peripheral wall of the hole at predetermined intervals and at axially different circumferential levels in the leading end portion of the nozzle body to introduce pressurized fuel, and the injection holes at each circumferential level are set different in diameter. On the other hand, a rotary valve has a plurality of fuel guide holes each corresponding to the injection holes at the respective circumferential levels. The fuel guide holes of the rotary valve and the injection holes of the nozzle body are arranged in such a relationship that while the fuel guide holes at one or more than one circumferential level are each made to communicate with the fuel guide holes at one or more than one corresponding circumferential level, the fuel guide holes at the other circumferential levels are not allowed to communicate with any injection holes.

Variable injection hole type fuel injection nozzle

A nozzle is provided wherein the operation of injection hole groups is switched from one to another in accordance with the axial displacement of a spool valve. A nozzle body has a bottomed hole, and a plurality of injection hole groups are provided at different circumferential levels in the side wall of the bottomed hole, the injection holes at different circumferential levels being different in diameter from each other. The valve portion of the spool valve is urged by a spring so that the lower end of the valve portion abuts against the base of the bottomed hole in the normal condition. Moreover, a fuel passage communicates with one of the injection hole groups in the normal condition and communicates with the other injection hole group at a position where the valve portion is displaced axially against the spring force on receiving the pressure of pressurized fuel. In addition, braking means is used to fixedly hold both the axial positions of the spool valve, depending on the operating condition of an engine.

An electronically controlled fuel injection pump includes a control unit mounted on a pump body and having an internal cooling passage through which a fuel oil flows to cool electronic components of the control unit. On a wall or surface defining part of the cooling passage, there are disposed elongate ribs for preventing the fuel oil from lying stagnant in the cooling passage.

Electronically controlled fuel injection pump

A distributor-type fuel injection pump of the type including a magnetic valve disposed on the head portion of a pump body, wherein a pair of oil seals is disposed on opposite sides of the feed pump, and a bypass passage bypasses the cam chamber and connects a discharge side of the feed pump and an inlet side of the magnetic valve. With this construction, the fuel is delivered without passing through the cam chamber. On the other hand, the lubrication oil is introduced into the cam chamber through clearances between the drive shaft and the bearings and through passageways defined in the drive shaft. The cam assembly or other movable components are lubricated exclusively with the lubrication oil, so that the fuel injection pump operates stably over an extended period of time.

Distributor-type fuel injection pump

A unit injector for an internal combustion engine has a solenoid valve for closing a fuel overflow passage to determine the injection timing and the injection quantity. A pumping plunger has its outer peripheral surface formed with first and second longitudinal slits both communicating with the plunger chamber, and a circumferentially extending suction slit communicating with the first longitudinal slit and registrable with a fuel intake passage when the plunger is in an extreme position remote from the plunger chamber. The plunger can assume selectively a normal operating position, a starting position, and an emergency stopping position, at respective different circumferential positions thereof. In the normal operating position, the plunger chamber communicates with the fuel intake passage through alignment of the first longitudinal slit or the suction slit with the fuel intake passage, and also communicated and with the fuel overflow passage via the second longitudinal slit. In this position, the fuel injection rate may be reduced by a leakage groove continuous with the first longitudinal slit. In the starting position the plunger chamber communicates with the fuel intake passage through alignment of the first longitudinal slit or the suction slit with the fuel intake passage, but is disconnected from the the fuel overflow passage. In the emergency stopping position, the plunger chamber is dsconnected from both the fuel intake passage and the fuel overflow passage, or the plunger chamber is communicated with the fuel intake passage through the first longitudinal slit during the pressure delivery stroke of the plunger.

Unit injector for internal combustion engines

A fuel injection apparatus comprises a first storing device for temporarily storing cut-off fuel drained after the termination of a fuel injection, a second storing device of changeable volume for temporarily storing fuel for intake, the second storing device having a movable member which is movable in response to the quantity of fuel introduced therein, a detector for producing a detection signal showing an actural position of the movable member and a clamping device responsive to an electric signal for clamping the movable member. The clamping device is actuated to clamp the movable member in response to the detection signal when the desired amount of fuel is stored therein. The adjusted quantity of fuel stored in the second storing device is supplied to a high pressure chamber together with the cut-off fuel stored in the first storing device during the next fuel intake stroke of a fuel injection pump. As a result, extremely high accuracy control of fuel quantity can be realized.

Fuel injection apparatus for internal combustion engines

A suction space is disposed to selectively communicate with a pump working chamber defined at one end of a plunger via a first communication passageway in which a solenoid valve is arranged, or with suction ports formed in the plunger and communicating with the pump working chamber via a second communication passageway having a restriction therein. The solenoid valve alternately opens and closes for ordinary fuel injection during operation of the engine other than at the start thereof. A selector valve keeps the first communication passageway closed and simultaneously keeps the second communication passageway opened for fuel injection through collaboration of the suction ports with the second communication passageway, in place of the alternate opening and closing of the solenoid valve.
