A medical tube position confirmation system for confirming the position of a medical tube that is used to supply nutrients to the interior of a body by means of tube feeding while an end portion thereof is inserted into (placed in) the stomach includes a light guide that is configured to guide light entering through an incident end portion so that the light exits through an exit end portion, and is configured to be insertable into the medical tube so that the exit end portion is disposed in the interior of the stomach, a light source that is optically connected to the incident end portion of the light guide and emits light containing wavelengths that pass through a living body, and a control unit that controls intensity of light emitted by the light source, wherein the control unit controls the intensity of light emitted by the light source within an intensity range that equals or exceeds a first intensity specific to a patient and is lower than a second intensity specific to the patient.

Medical tube position confirmation system

An illumination system for illuminating a lumen within a body of a patient comprising a tube having a proximal end and an opposed distal end and an internal chamber, the tube being configured for placement within a lumen of the body. The system also includes an illumination subsystem including an optical fiber that is sized and configured to seat within the internal chamber of the tube and a light source for generating light that is emitted by the fiber optic cable. The optical fiber, when mounted within the tube and when the light source generates light, emits light at the distal end of the tube so as to transilluminate the lumen and surrounding tissue so as to be able to locate the distal end of the tube within the lumen of the patient.

A cautery device for biological tissue, includes: a probe including a head unit that is configured to be inserted into a living body to emit light to cauterize the biological tissue, the head unit including a first fixing member, a second fixing member, and an exit hole, the exit hole being located between the first fixing member and the second fixing member, the exit hole allowing the light to be emitted therethrough; and an elongated catheter configured to sandwich the biological tissue between the probe and the catheter, to thereby support the biological tissue, the catheter including a third fixing member configured to fix the first fixing member and a fourth fixing member configured to fix the second fixing member.

A stimulation control unit that outputs a stimulation signal for reducing a myocardial workload to an electrode for stimulation inserted in a blood vessel running in the vicinity of the vagus nerve of a patient in order to stimulate the vagus nerve; a detecting unit that detects first biological information and second biological information of the patient; a setting unit that sets threshold information for determining a normal range of the first biological information and second biological information; and a determining unit that determines whether or not values of the detected first biological information and second biological information are within the normal range determined in the threshold information; where the stimulation control unit adjusts the intensity of the stimulation signal such that the values of the first biological information and second biological information are within the normal range, and the value of the second biological information is reduced by a predetermined ratio or more as compared to a value before the stimulation.
