A battery pack apparatus including a battery pack having a plurality of rechargeable batteries arranged in parallel, with a cooling medium passage interposed therebetween, a cooling medium feeding device for feeding a cooling medium through the cooling medium passages, and a control section for controlling the charge and discharge of the battery pack. In this configuration, the battery pack apparatus is divided into a first unit including the battery pack and the cooling medium feeding device and a second unit having the control section accommodated in a case. The battery pack of the first unit is connected with the control section of the second unit by means of a harness or metallic connecting member.

In a battery pack including a plurality of rechargeable batteries arranged in parallel so as to interpose cooling medium paths therebetween, a cooling medium feeding device for feeding a cooling medium to the cooling medium paths is provided. One end of a heat pipe is thermally connected to the downstream side of the battery pack in the flow direction of the cooling medium, whereas the other end of the heat pipe is exposed in a portion having a lower temperature than the downstream side. In this structure, the battery pack is cooled by flow of the cooling medium, while a portion at the downstream side of the cooling medium is cooled with the heat pipe so as to uniformly cool the battery pack.

Cooling device for battery pack

A battery pack apparatus includes a battery pack having multiple rechargeable batteries arranged in parallel and heat medium passages formed therebetween. The battery pack apparatus also includes a heat insulation cover formed of a heat insulation material that covers a circumferential surface of the battery pack substantially entirely. A supply passage and a discharge passage are provided between the heat insulation cover and the battery pack. The supply passage supplies a heat medium to the heat medium passages while the discharge passage discharges the heat medium from the heat medium passages. The battery pack apparatus also includes a supply device that supplies the heat medium to the supply passage.

A battery pack apparatus is configured with a battery pack composed of a plurality of rechargeable batteries arranged in parallel with cooling medium passages formed therebetween, and a cross flow fan which faces a distribution space formed adjacent to one side of the battery pack to supply or discharge cooling medium with respect to each of the cooling medium passages, and which is disposed such that the rotational axis thereof follows the aligning direction of the rechargeable batteries. The axial position of the fan is eccentric in the direction of movement of an impeller at an intake chamber side with respect to a center line of the distribution space, the line perpendicular to the aligning direction of the rechargeable batteries. The rechargeable batteries are uniformly cooled within a compact configuration.

Battery pack apparatus and cooling device thereof

A plurality of cells (to) are abutted against each other and electrically connected on the short sides of rectangular battery housings (), and binding plates () disposed on both long sides are tied together with binding bands () to integrally link the cells (to). Because the heat radiation conditions are equalized among the cells (to), there is an extremely small temperature differential between the cells, charging efficiency, which varies with temperature conditions, is consistent, and there is no variance in battery capacity, so none of the cells are over-discharged, and battery life is extended.

A battery power supply device of the present invention includes a battery pack in which a plurality of battery modules each includes a plurality of cells which are serially connected together both electrically and mechanically, the plurality of battery modules housed in a holder, and the battery power supply device is structured so that a cooling medium flows around each cell and/or each battery module; the battery back is provided with a plurality of vent holes having different aperture areas which are distributed over at least one of inlet and outlet sides of the battery pack such that a cooling medium having a substantially uniform flow rate flows around each cell and/or each battery module.

A battery pack apparatus including: a plurality of battery packs each having a plurality of rechargeable batteries arranged in parallel, with a cooling medium passage interposed therebetween; a plurality of cooling medium feeding devices provided, one for each of the battery packs for feeding a cooling medium through the cooling medium passage of the battery pack; a temperature detector for detecting temperature of the rechargeable batteries in the respective battery packs; and a controller for controlling the cooling medium feeding devices based on detected temperatures, wherein the controller controls the cooling medium feeding devices such that the maximum or minimum temperatures detected for the respective battery packs substantially match with each other, to thereby inhibit the temperature variation among the rechargeable batteries.

Mounting structure for temperature detecting member in rechargeable battery

A power supply unit capable of simplifying the structure of a battery case and improving the cooling efficiency by increasing the cross sectional area of a coolant passage. A power supply unit includes a battery case; a plurality of battery modules disposed in parallel, each battery module is composed of three cells connected in series in a row, and the front end and the rear end of the battery module are held by the front part and the rear part of the battery case; a cooling fan for forcing a cooling air to flow in the passage between the neighboring battery modules; a shielding plate for shielding the cooling air from the battery module, which is placed at the upstream side of the passage and; a rectifying fin for increasing the flow rate of the cooling air, which is placed at the downstream side of the passage.

Power supply unit

In a battery pack, a plurality of batter modules provided with safety vents for discharging gas are arranged in parallel. A gas discharging device is provided in which discharge outlets of the safety vents of the respective battery modules are connected to at least one discharge gas tube installed in the alignment direction of the battery modules and connected to an external discharging section. The battery modules are connected in a manner that changes in the intervals between the discharge outlets of respective safety vents, due to expansion of the battery modules, are absorbed by expansion or displacement of theat least one discharge gas tube.
