A heat transfer medium for transferring heat from a vehicle driving battery that generates heat during charging and discharging includes a liquid base material, an orthosilicic acid ester compatible with the base material, and an ion adsorbent dispersed in the base material. The ion adsorbent is formed of a plurality of solid particles and adsorbs at least one of anions and cations present in the heat transfer medium.

Heat transfer medium and thermal management system

A vehicle thermal management system mounted in a vehicle includes a vehicle driving battery, a liquid heat transfer medium, a heat receiver, and a radiator. The heat receiver causes the heat transfer medium to receive heat through heat exchange with the battery. The radiator causes the heat transfer medium to release the heat through heat exchange with an air outside of the vehicle. The heat transfer medium includes a liquid base material including water and an orthosilicic acid ester compatible with the liquid base material and does not include an ionic rust inhibitor. The orthosilicic acid ester is present, as a concentration of silicon, relative to a total mass of the heat transfer medium within a range between 2000 mass ppm, non-inclusive, and 10000 mass ppm, inclusive.

Vehicle thermal management system, heat transfer medium and method for cooling vehicle driving battery

A vehicle thermal management system includes a vehicle driving battery that generates heat during charging and discharging and a liquid heat transfer medium that transfers heat received from the battery. The system further includes a heat receiver that causes the heat transfer medium to receive heat through heat exchange with the battery and that includes a portion in contact with the heat transfer medium and made of a material containing aluminum. The system further includes a refrigerant heat exchanger that causes the heat transfer medium to release heat through heat exchange with a refrigerant and that includes a portion in contact with the heat transfer medium and made of a material containing aluminum. The heat transfer medium includes a liquid base material including water, an orthosilicic acid ester compatible with the liquid base material, and an azole derivative and has an electric insulation property.

During a normal operation, a refrigeration cycle device is switched to a refrigerant circuit in which heat contained in a high-pressure refrigerant flowing out of an interior radiator is stored in a heat storage member. When frost is formed on an evaporator, the refrigeration cycle device is switched to another refrigerant circuit in which the exterior heat exchanger is heated and defrosted using heat stored in the heat storage member as a heat source. The heat storage member uses a material formed by adding W (tungsten) as an additive to VO(vanadium dioxide) which is a transition metal oxide having a property of a phase transition between a metal and an insulator. The heat storage member effectively stores or dissipates heat depending on a temperature zone of the refrigerant, thereby suppressing an increase in energy consumption of a compressor.

Refrigeration cycle device

A heat exchanger has (i) a first passage in which a first fluid flows, (ii) a heat storage body that is thermally connected to the first passage and stores a warm heat or a cold heat, and (iii) a second passage that is thermally connected to both of the first passage and the heat storage body, the second passage in which a second fluid flows. The heat storage body changes to a first phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage body is lower than or equal to a phase transition temperature, and changes to a second phase in a solid state when the temperature of the heat storage body exceeds the phase transition temperature. The heat storage body stores or dissipates heat depending on a phase transition between the first phase and the second phase.

Heat exchanger

A heat storage system has a heat source that generates heat and releases the heat to a first heat medium and a heat storage body that stores heat. The heat storage body changes to a first phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage body is lower than or equal to a phase transition temperature, and changes to a second phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage body exceeds the phase transition temperature. The heat storage body stores or releases heat due to a phase transition between the first phase and the second phase. A mode of operation of the heat storage body is switchable between a heat storage mode in which the heat storage body stores heat of the first heat medium and a heat release mode in which the heat storage body releases the heat stored in the heat storage body to a heat transfer target.

Heat storage system

An energy management system is applied to a vehicle having a first power source, a first converter, an electricity storage part, and a second power source. The energy management system has a second converter, a heat storage part, a mode switching part, and a controller. The mode switching part switches between a heat storage mode and a heat radiation mode. The heat storage part changes to a first phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage part is lower than or equal to a phase transition temperature, and changes to a second phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage part exceeds the phase transition temperature. The controller controls the operations of the second converter and the mode switching part based on at least one of an electricity storage condition of the electricity storage part and a conversion condition of the first converter.

Energy management system

A composite heat storage material includes a heat storage material and an inorganic material. The heat storage material is made of a strongly correlated electron material that stores and dissipates heat via solid-solid phase transition. The inorganic material is different from the material of the heat storage material. The heat storage material and the inorganic material are mixed. The composite heat storage material can have characteristics of both the heat storage material and the inorganic material.

Composite heat storage material

A heat storage unit or a heat storage system is a heat storage unit including: a heat storage portion having a first material with a strongly correlated electron system material; and a heat conduction portion having a second material higher in a thermal conductivity than the first material and being in contact with the heat storage portion. The heat storage unit may have a laminated structure in which the heat storage portion and the heat conduction portion are alternately laminated on each other. For example, a metal-insulator phase transition material or a transition metal oxide may be used as the strongly correlated electron system material. The second material may be metal or ceramics.

Heat storage unit and heat storage system

A heat storing system includes: a heat source that emits heat to a first thermal medium; and a heat storing unit. The heat storing unit includes a heat storing body container housing a heat storing body, and a thermal medium container housing a liquid phase thermal medium. The heat storing body stores or emits heat in accordance with phase change of the heat storing body. The heat storing unit is configured to conduct a cold heat emission mode in which the liquid phase thermal medium and a cooling medium exchange heat in the thermal medium container to evaporate the thermal medium such that cold heat is emitted to the cooling medium.
