In a power converter, a housing is grounded. A power converter circuit is installed in the housing and configured to perform power conversion of input power into output power. An external terminal is electrically connected to the power converter circuit for connection of an external device to the power converter circuit. A first capacitor has first and second electrodes. The first electrode of the first capacitor is connected to the external terminal, and the second electrode thereof is connected to the housing. A second capacitor has first and second electrodes. The first electrode of the second capacitor is connected to the external terminal, and the second electrode thereof is connected to the housing. The first capacitor, the external terminal, the second capacitor, and the housing is arranged to provide a conductive loop.

Power converter with noise-current reduction capacitor

A noise filter is assembled to an electric power conversion device and has a metal housing casing and two capacitors connected to an external terminal of the device through which an electric power conversion circuit is connected to an external device. The two capacitors, the housing casing and the external terminal make a current loop. A magnetic flux of an alternating magnetic field generated in a part of the electric power conversion circuit penetrates in a first area and a second area formed in the current loop. A first induced noise current is induced in the current loop when the magnetic flux of the generated magnetic field penetrates in the first area. A second induced noise current is induced in the current loop when the magnetic flux penetrates in the second area so that the first induced noise current flows in a reverse direction to the second induced noise current.

Noise filter

A power conversion apparatus supplies power from a DC power supply to a capacitive load by a current input push-pull DCDC converter provided with switching elements Qand Q. When a capacitive load voltage is not larger than a second predetermined value, a first mode is used which turns ON one of the switching elements Qand Qalternated with turning OFF both. When the capacitive load voltage is larger than the second predetermined value but not larger than a first predetermined value, a second mode is used which turns ON both of the switching elements Qand Q, then turns ON one of them, then turns OFF both, sequentially. When the capacitive load voltage is larger than the first predetermined value, a third mode is used, turning ON both of the switching elements Qand Qalternated with turning ON one of them.

Power conversion apparatus and method for controlling power conversion apparatus

An apparatus controls a DC-DC converter that converts an input voltage to an output voltage. The DC-DC converter includes a switching element having a duty ratio controlled by the apparatus to regulate the output voltage, a first transformer, a second transformer and a capacitor. A terminal voltage applied between input and output terminals of the switching element varies depending on the duty ratio and the input voltage. The apparatus may be configured to: limit the duty ratio in response to the input voltage represented by a modulated signal; enable the DC-DC converter to continue to convert the input voltage to the output voltage when an abnormal condition of the modulated signal is determined; and limit the duty ratio of the switching element when the abnormal condition is determined. Main and sub switching elements of the switching element and the capacitor are disposed between the first and second transformers.

Control apparatus for DC-DC converter

A converter is provided as a power conversion device. The converter includes a switching circuit that performs switching on the basis of switching signals; and a control circuit that changes switching frequency of switching signals in a predetermined pattern with the elapse of time, and repeats the changes in switching frequency in the predetermined pattern at every repetition time. The converter sets the repetition time such that a repetition frequency that is the inverse of the repetition time does not coincide with a frequency band that can be demodulated as sound by a radio that receives radio broadcasts.

Device for power conversion using switching element

A power converter is described which is comprised of a filter circuit component including a reactor and capacitor wherein the reactor includes a core which consists of a magnetic substance which is disposed around a conductive wiring member, a noise generating component which radiates noise wherein the noise generating components are disposed adjacently to the filter circuit component and a shielding plate which shields out the radiating noise. The shielding plate is disposed between the filter circuit component and the noise generating component. The conductive wiring member and the shielding plate are composed as one body electrically insulated from each other.

Power converter

A power converter is preferably mounted in a vehicle. The converter has a power converting unit including an electrical switching element electrically switched on and off selectively in response to a duty ratio of PWM (pulse-width modulation) signal given to the switching element. The converter further has a controller including a drive unit that generates the PWM signal, in addition to a controlling unit and a limiting unit. The controlling unit controls the duty ratio of the PWM signal such that a voltage inputted to the power converter is converted to a voltage to be outputted depending on the duty ratio. The limiting unit limits at least one of a time change amount of the duty ratio of the PWM signal and a maximum duty ratio of the PWM signal.

The dual type vehicle power-supply apparatus includes a bidirectional power transmission unit capable of performing bidirectional electric power transmission between a high voltage source of a high power-supply voltage supply system and a low voltage source of a low power-supply voltage supply system, and a power transmission controller controlling the bidirectional power transmission unit to perform the bidirectional electric power transmission. Switching device and related operating method

A switching device comprises a switching element, a setting member, and a control member. The switching element turns on/off in response to a drive signal, so as to control a controlled variable of a controlled system to a desired amount. The setting member sets the drive signal on the basis of both a desired duty to control the controlled variable, wherein the drive signal is set by repeating a basic pattern consisting of a plurality of intervals which are decided to remove overlaps, in a frequency spectrum, between or among switching frequencies produced based on an interval between start timings of the on operations and an interval between start timings of the off operations.
