Pigment dispersion and use thereof

An inkjet ink having sufficient water resistance on a recording sheet but having excellent re-solubility in an ink in a head portion and excellent ejection stability through a nozzle, the inkject ink comprising an aqueous liquid, a pigment and a water-soluble resin, the water-soluble resin being a terpolymer obtained from acrylic acid, styrene and .alpha.-methyl styrene and having a weight average molecular weight of 2,000 to 8,000 and an acid value of 90 to 130, and a process for the production of the inkjet ink, which comprises preparing a concentrated aqueous dispersion of a pigment and a terpolymer obtained from acrylic acid, styrene and .alpha.-methylstyrene, adding water and an additive to the concentrated dispersion to dilute the concentrated dispersion and maintaining the diluted dispersion at a temperature between 60.degree. C. and 80.degree. C. for 5 to 48 hours.

Inkjet ink and process for the production thereof

An aqueous coating composition includes: an inorganic particulate substance whose surface is modified with a silane coupling agent having at least one functional group selected from a group consisting of vinyl group, (meth)acryloyl group, epoxy group, and amino group; and an aqueous resin having a functional group which is reactive with the functional group of the silane coupling agent. The aqueous coating composition has excellent storage stability, pigment dispersion, coloring property, adhesion to various substrates, and printing properties, and can be used for various applications, such as printing ink, coating materials, adhesives, fiber treatment agents, surface treatment agents, and the like.

Aqueous coating compositions

An aqueous dispersion of an aqueous polyurethane having an ionic functional group, polyoxyethylene units and terminal hydrazine functional groups is provided. Content of the ionic functional group is about 5 to about 180 milliequivalent per 100 g of the aqueous polyurethane, and content of the polyoxyethylene unit is about 20% by weight or less of a weight of the aqueous polyurethane. The aqueous dispersion is used for a composition for ink, coating or adhesive. Storage stability, water resistance, pigment dispersibility, and adhesion to various kinds of substrates, particularly non-polar substrates, of the aqueous dispersion and the composition are excellent.
