Provided are a drug, a cosmetic, etc. for promoting production of ceramide. Provided is a ceramide production promoter including a compound represented by the formula (1) or salts thereof as an active ingredient (in the formula, Rrepresents a phosphono group or a hydrogen atom, Rrepresents an alkyl group having 8 to 24 carbon atoms or an acyl group having 8 to 24 carbon atoms, and Rrepresents an alkyl group having 1 to 24 carbon atoms when Rrepresents a phosphono group or represents a phosphono group when Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, or a salt thereof as an active ingredient.

This invention relates to skin pore tighteners each of which comprises, as an active ingredient, a compound represented by the following formula:R&#x2014;OG &#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein Rrepresents an alkyl or alkenyl group having 8 to 32 carbon atoms, and OG represents a residual group obtained by removing a hydrogen atom from a hydroxyl group of a polyhydric alcohol, monosaccharide or oligosaccharide at least one hydroxyl group of which has been sulfated or phosphatized, or a salt thereof, and also to skin elasticity improvers each of which comprises, as an active ingredient, a glyceryl ether derivative represented by the following formula: wherein Rrepresents the same group as defined above, and Xand Xeach independently represents a hydrogen atom, &#x2014;SOOH or &#x2014;PO(OH)with the proviso that Xand Xare not hydrogen atoms at the same time, or a salt thereof.

Skin pore minimizers and skin elasticity improvers

The present invention relates to a phosphorylated glyceryl ether aluminum salt represented by the general formula (1): (wherein Rrepresents an alkyl or an alkenyl group with 8 to 32 carbon atoms; Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, a phosphoric acid residue or &#x2014;CHCH(OR)CHOR(wherein Rand Rare the same as described above, provided that a repeated binding number is 4 at the most when Ris &#x2014;CHCH(OR)CHOR); Xrepresents a hydrogen atom or a phosphoric acid residue, and at least one of Xand Ris a phosphoric acid residue; Y represents an alkali metal atom or an alkaline earth metal atom; m represents a number from 0.3 to 1, and n represents a number from 0 to 1), and an external dermatological agent containing the same. The compound has benefits such as an excellent pore contracting activity and also a good solubility in oil.

Disclosed herein is an external skin-care composition comprising hydroxycarboxylic acids or derivatives thereof represented by the general formulae (1), (2), and (3), or the salts thereof: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are each independently a hydroxyl group, an amino group or an alkoxyl group which may be substituted by 1-3 hydroxyl groups, l is a number of 7-11, m is a number of 6-10, and n is a number of 5-9. This composition exhibits an excellent moisturizing effect, moisturizes the skin, has a great effect in preventing skin roughness and shows excellent effects in enhancing the clear skin tone of the skin and reducing skin dullness, and is hence particularly useful for cosmetic skin-care compositions.
