The present disclosure provides an ophthalmic lens (such as an IOL) that is designed to enhance depth of focus for intermediate vision performance, while maintaining distance vision. The lens may include an optic having an anterior surface and a posterior surface disposed about an optical axis. One of the surfaces (e.g., the anterior surface) may have a surface profile involving a superposition of at least three structures or profiles, including a base structure, a phase shift structure having an inner region, an outer region and a transition region, and a zonal structure having an inner power zone and an outer transition zone.

Ophthalmic lenses having an extended depth of focus for improving intermediate vision

A method and system provide an ophthalmic device. The ophthalmic device includes an ophthalmic lens having anterior surface, a posterior surface and at least one diffractive structure including a plurality of zones. The at least one diffractive structure is for at least one of the anterior surface and the posterior surface. Each zone includes at least one echelette having a least one step height. The step height(s) are individually optimized for each zone. To compensate chromatic aberration of eye from distance to a range of vision, a greater than 2π phase step height may be employed and the step height(s) folded by a phase, which is an integer multiple of two multiplied by π. Hence chromatic aberration of eye may be compensated to improve vision from distance to near.

Intraocular lenses having zone-by-zone step height control

The present disclosure provides an ophthalmic lens that is disposed to balance coma aberrations if the lens, when inserted in a patient's eye, is decentered or tilted with respect to an optical axis of the patient's eye, and maintain a substantially diffraction-limited image quality if the lens, when inserted in the patient's eye, is centered with respect to the optical axis of the patient's eye. The lens may include an optic having an anterior surface and an opposing posterior surface disposed about an optical axis of the lens. One of the surfaces (e.g., the anterior surface) may have a semi-aspheric surface profile, which includes an inner region having a substantially spherical surface profile and extending radially from the optical axis of the lens to a first boundary, and an outer region having an aspherical surface profile and extending radially at least beyond the first boundary to a second boundary.

Ophthalmic lenses for balancing coma aberrations

The present disclosure concerns a curvature-changing, accommodative intraocular lens (IOL) for implantation in the capsular bag of a patient's eye. The IOL includes a fluid optic body having a cavity for containing an optical fluid, the cavity at least partially defined by a sidewall extending around the cavity and defining a diameter of the cavity and a deformable optical membrane intersecting the sidewall around a circumference of the sidewall and spanning the diameter of the cavity. The IOL further includes a second optic body spaced a distance apart from the fluid optic body and a plurality of struts extending from the sidewall and coupling the fluid optic body to the second optic body. The struts are configured such that axial compression of the capsular bag causes the struts to deform the sidewall in a manner that increases the diameter of the cavity, modifying a curvature of the deformable optical membrane.

Dual optic, curvature changing accommodative IOL

A method and system provide an ophthalmic device. The ophthalmic device includes an ophthalmic lens having anterior surface, a posterior surface and at least one diffractive structure including a plurality of zones. A method and system provide an ophthalmic device. The ophthalmic device includes an ophthalmic lens having an anterior surface, a posterior surface, an optic axis and at least one diffractive grating pattern. The diffractive grating pattern(s) are disposed on at least one of the anterior surface and the posterior surface. The diffractive grating pattern(s) includes zones corresponding to distance ranges from the optic axis. Each of the zones has a plurality of echelettes having a radius of curvature corresponding to a focal length. The radius of curvature for each of at least a portion of the zones is different from the radius of curvature for another of the zones.

Method and system for providing an intraocular lens having an improved depth of field

An accommodative intraocular lens (IOL) system is disclosed for insertion into an eye to provide accommodative vision, the system including a deformable air chamber filled with a transparent, low refractive index medium disposed between the first and second optics; and at least one haptic connected to the air chamber and configured to facilitate a change in the curvature of at least one surface of the chamber, such that when the lens system is positioned in an eye, cilliary muscle movements can alter the curvature of the air chamber and vary the overall lens power of the system.
