A magnetizing device includes a magnetization yoke including a pair of magnetization heads confronting each other through a magnetic gap, an excitation coil wound around the magnetization yoke, and a magnetization power supply that supplies a magnetizing current to the excitation coil to generate magnetic flux between the magnetization heads. A magnetic shield is provided on the magnetization yoke. The magnetic shield is spaced apart from one of the magnetization heads with a gap being formed therebetween along a direction in which the plurality of magnetic encoder tracks are arranged. The magnetic shield blocks a flow of magnetic flux that is present outside a defined extension of a flow of the magnetic flux between the pair of magnetization heads. The magnetic shield is of such a geometry that a thickness thereof progressively decreases towards the one of the magnetization heads.

Magnetizing device for magnetic encoder

In a magnetization device, while an annular magnetic body including plural rows of annular un-magnetized magnetic encoder tracks which are arranged adjacent to each other and integrated therewith is rotated, magnetization is performed, thereby providing a magnetic encoder. The magnetization device includes: a magnetizing yoke including a pair of opposed end portions opposed to each other across a magnetic gap; an exciting coil wound on the magnetizing yoke; a magnetization power source supplying a magnetizing current to the exciting coil to pass magnetic flux between the opposed end portions; and a magnetic shield which is provided to the magnetizing yoke and shields flow of the magnetic flux to the rows of magnetic encoder tracks other than a magnetization target.

To provide a motor driving system for an electrically powered automotive vehicle, in which the drive motor is rotationally controlled to increase the reliability, the use is made of an angle sensor for detecting the relative rotational angle between a stator and a rotor of a drive motor for driving the electric vehicle and a controller for controlling the rotation of the drive motor on the basis of the relative rotational angle detected by the angle sensor. The angle sensor is provided in a plural number. The controller includes an angle sensor switching unit operable to select and activate one of the plurality of the angle sensors and then to switch over to an activation of another one of the angle sensors in the event that the one of the angle sensors is determined abnormal.

Motor driving system for electric vehicle

Provided is a magnetic encoder which includes plural rows of magnetic encoder tracks. One magnetic encoder track of the magnetic encoder tracks includes magnetic pattern magnetized thereto to generate signals of equal pitch for detection of rotation. The magnetized magnetic pattern includes N poles and S poles arranged in alternate fashion. The magnetic encoder is configured to be employed spaced through an air gap from sensors that read magnetic signals of the respective magnetic encoder tracks. The magnetic encoder track is configured such that the magnetic pattern thereof acting on position of the corresponding sensor is, under the interference of magnetism of the plural rows of magnetic encoder tracks, detected by the corresponding sensor as an equal pitch magnetic pattern.

Magnetic encoder

A magnetic encoder magnetizing method, in which magnetization of the plural neighboring tracks of the magnetic encoder can be accurately performed, is provided. While an annular magnetic body having a plurality of annular, unmagnetized magnetic encoder tracks integral therewith and juxtaposed relative to each other is rotated, the tracks of the magnetic encoder are individually magnetized by a magnetizing head, made up of a magnetizing yoke and an exciting coil, to thereby provide the magnetic encoder. In the practice of this magnetizing method, when one of the tracks of the magnetic encoder is magnetized, the other track is covered with a magnetic shielding mask.

Method of magnetizing magnetic encoder and magnetizing apparatus

A rotation detecting device includes a plurality of magnetic encoders disposed coaxially and having respective numbers of magnetic poles different from each other and a plurality of magnetic sensors for detecting respective magnetic fields emanating from those magnetic encoders. Each of the magnetic sensors is in a ring form and obtains the position information within the magnetic poles of the associated magnetic encoder. A phase difference detector determines the difference in phase between magnetic field signals detected respectively by the magnetic sensors. An angle calculator is provided, which is operable on the basis of the difference in phase so detected to calculate an absolute angle of each of the magnetic encoders. A corrector corrects the initial phase difference occurring in the magnetic field signals, detected respectively by the magnetic sensors, as a result of the fitting position of the magnetic encoders.

A rotation detection device includes a plurality of magnetic encoders of a ring shape arranged coaxially and having different numbers of magnetic poles, a plurality of magnetic sensors each operable to detect the magnetic field of the corresponding magnetic encoder and having a function of detecting positional information within a single magnetic pole of the corresponding magnetic encoder, a phase difference detector to determine the phase difference of magnetic field signals detected respectively by the magnetic sensors, and an angle calculator to calculate an absolute rotation angle of the magnetic encoders based on the detected phase difference.
