An electronic device includes a battery and a housing whose battery compartment has a main surface and a pair of side surfaces. The main surface is configured to face the bottom surface of the battery and the side surfaces are configured to face the respective side surfaces of the battery. Each of the side surfaces has a guide rail for the battery. Each of the guide rails has a first end at a primary end of the housing and a second end. Each of the guide rails is inclined such that the distance between the first end of the guide rail and the main surface of the battery compartment is greater than the distance at the second end.

An electronic device of the present disclosure includes a first housing, a second housing, and a hinge part for connecting the first housing and the second housing. The first housing has a first primary surface at which an input unit is disposed, and a second primary surface opposite to the first primary surface. The second housing has a third primary surface provided with a display unit, and a fourth primary surface opposite to the third primary surface. The hinge part connects the first and second housings so that an angle formed by the first and third primary surfaces is capable of 360 degrees of change. The electronic device has a first configuration in which the first and third primary surfaces face each other to form an angle of substantially 0 degrees, and a second configuration in which the second and fourth primary surfaces face each other and the first and third primary surfaces are substantially parallel. At least one of the housings is shaped so that in the second configuration, a first clearance formed between the second and fourth primary surfaces increases in size in a substantially linear manner in a direction away from the hinge parts.

An information processing unit of the present invention includes a display panel capable of displaying a video image; and a casing having a rear face panel that covers at least a back side of the display panel, the back side being opposite to a display face of the display panel. In the information processing unit, the rear face panel has an opposed face opposed to the display panel, and the opposed face includes a wall-thinned portion having a small thickness, and a wall-thickened portion that is a part of the wall-thinned portion having a thickness increased in a direction toward the display panel, and the wall-thickened portion is formed continuously from one side to an opposite side of the opposed face, the one side and the opposite side forming a perimeter of the opposed face and being opposite to each other.

In the electronic device, an inletis provided on a front faceof a first housing. Thus, it is possible to reduce the possibility of the inletbeing blocked by objects. That is, when a user uses a notebook computer in a normal position, his body opposes the front facein many cases. Thus, when the inlet is provided on the front face, the inlet is less likely to be blocked than when it is provided on any other face of the first housing. A flexible printed circuit board can prevent itself from breaking without losing its flexibility, avoid significantly damaging the operation of an electronic device in the event that a part of the flexible printed circuit board is broken, and warn the user about the occurrence of a breakage. The flexible printed circuit board includes: a connecting portion that is formed at an end of a signal wire for transmitting an electric signal; a signal wiring portion in which a plurality of unidirectionally aligned signal wires are disposed in a vicinity of the connecting portion; a breakage detection portion in which the signal wires are not disposed and that is formed at one of side edges of the signal wiring portion; and a through hole formed between the breakage detection portion and the signal wiring portion.

An operation unit has an operation surface for accepting an input operation. In a plan view, the operation surface has a rectangular contour including a plurality of sides and a plurality of corner portions. The present invention improves the operability when opening and closing a cover. Since the cover is curved such that the front face is in a concave form, when opening a memory slot, part of the cover is lifted from a first casing by simply removing a screw from the first casing and the cover. The cover can be detached from the first casing by holding the lifted portion of the cover, and, thus, the memory slot can be opened easily without using the weight of the cover. Accordingly, it is possible to improve the operability when attaching a memory module to the memory slot or when detaching a memory module from the memory slot.

An electronic device of the present invention has a configuration in which an enclosed space is formed continuously from an opening face of a cone portion of a speaker on a reverse side of a main face of a flat housing, and an opening portion of the enclosed space is formed in a face not parallel to the main face of the housing, whereby even when a reduction in diameter of a speaker is inevitable and there is a limit to a space volume for housing the speaker due to the downsizing of the device, sound information can be reproduced with higher quality.

A laptop computer includes a first chassis accommodating a display section; a second chassis accommodating an operation control section; and a hinge mechanism coupling the first and second chassis. The hinge mechanism includes a hinge bracket inside an escutcheon part of the first chassis and having a base end side coupled with a hinge axle. A slanted extension part is provided to a side edge portion of the escutcheon part from a side corresponding to a tip of the hinge bracket to a side corresponding to the base end of the hinge bracket. A slanted part which corresponds to the slant of the extension part is provided to a side edge portion of the one side of the second chassis. The hinge bracket is fixed to the first chassis with a tip portion of the hinge bracket abutting a slanted back surface of the extension part.
