An inorganic nonaqueous electrolytic solution type cell comprising an oxyhalide which is in the liquid state at room temperature and serves as an active material for a positive electrode and as a solvent for an electrolytic solution; a negative electrode made of an alkali metal; a positive electrode made of a porous carbon molded article; and a separator which is positioned between said negative electrode and said positive electrode and comprises a nonwoven fabric of glass fibers and a microporous film having a substantially uniform micropores having curved passages, which cell suffers less decrease of closing voltage after storage and less formation of the internal short circuits due to vibration.

An inorganic nonaqueous electrolytic solution type cell comprising a separator which is positioned between a negative electrode and a positive electrode, a bottom insulator which is positioned between a bottom of a cell container and a positive electrode, and an electrolytic solution comprising an electrolyte and an oxyhalide which is in the liquid state at room temperature and serves as an active material for a positive electrode and a solvent for the electrolytic solution, wherein each of the separator and the bottom insulator comprises a material selected from the group consisting of a microporous film of an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer and a composite sheet of a microporous film of an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer and a nonwoven glass fabric.

A non-aqueous electrochemical cell comprising an anode containing an alkali metal as an essential component of the active anode material, a cathode collector comprising a carbonaceous porous shaped body and a cathode-electrolyte consisting of an ionically conductive solution of a solute in a solvent containing a liquid oxyhalide, characterized in that at least one of the electrolyte and the collector is incorporated with an aromatic compound to prevent voltage drop at the initial stage of discharge.
