A metal pigment composition of the present disclosure is a coloring composition or a composition to be used for preparation of the coloring composition and includes: a metal pigment; a polyoxyalkyleneamine compound; and a liquid medium component, the metal pigment includes metal particles, the metal particles are surface-modified with a surface treatment agent, and the surface treatment agent is at least one selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the following formula (1) and a compound represented by the following formula (2)(A-R—O)P(O)(OH)  (1)(A-R)P(O)(OH)  (2).

Coloring composition and coloring method

An ink jet printing method includes a metallic ink application step of ejecting a metallic ink composition containing a metallic pigment from an ink jet head to apply the metallic ink composition onto a printing medium, a heating step of heating the metallic ink composition applied on the printing medium with an infrared heater, and a coloring ink application step of ejecting a coloring ink composition containing a coloring material from an ink jet head to apply the coloring ink composition onto the metallic ink composition on the printing medium. Each of the metallic ink composition and the coloring ink composition is a water-based ink or a solvent-based ink.

A recording method of the present disclosure, which is a recording method of performing recording on a recording medium by using a recording device including an ink jet head, includes ejecting a composition for ink jet from the ink jet head, in which the composition for ink jet contains a metal pigment, the metal pigment is formed of a plurality of scaly metal particles, the ink jet head includes a circulation flow path for circulating the composition for ink jet, and an average thickness of the metal particles determined by atomic force microscopy is 19 nm or less.

An ink jet composition of the invention is discharged by an ink jet method and includes: metal powder; an organic solvent; and a resin having a styrene-maleic acid structure as a binder resin, in which the ink jet composition contains metal powder surface-treated with a fluorine-based compound as the metal powder.
