A controller causes the fast Fourier transform calculator to vary at least one of a frequency range for fast Fourier transform or a number of frequency samples used by the fast Fourier transform calculator, depending on determination by the determiner. Preferably, the controller is adapted to cause the fast Fourier transform calculator to vary at least one of the frequency range for fast Fourier transform or the number of frequency samples used by the fast Fourier transform calculator based on information about frequencies used in communication from a radio base station to the mobile communication terminal and notified from the radio base station.

Mobile communication terminal and control method therefor

A communication device and a communication method capable of implementing high-speed and high-quality communication processing such as handover. A mobile communication terminal is configured such that, in cases where it is judged by a power measurement unit that a reception signal received by a communication unit is equal to or less than a predetermined value, a frequency conversion unit performs computation by expanding a frequency range for performing time/frequency conversion with respect to the received reception signal. Further, a frequency measurement unit measures reception strength of reception signals in the expanded frequency range, and detects a frequency of, among the measured signals, a signal with a reception strength higher than a predetermined reception strength, and the communication unit executes connection processing by using the signal of this frequency.

Signals are received with a wider power range even through the use of existing AGCs than by conventional mobile communication terminals. In an AGC on one antenna side, in order to enable reception of a signal at a higher level, a target TA of a dynamic range DA of this AGC is changed to a value 5 dB higher than a value defined as a standard TS. On the other hand, in an AGC on another antenna side, in order to enable reception of a signal at a lower level, a target TB of a dynamic range DB of this AGC is changed to a value 5 dB lower than the value defined as the standard TS.

A communication terminal device and a reception environment reporting method produce a more excellent throughput, by making a report of a reception environment with higher accuracy. An SIR measuring section measures an SIR from a reception signal that has been received from a base transceiver station. A CQI converter converts the SIR that has been measured by the SIR measuring section into a CQI value. A BLER calculating section calculates a block error rate of the reception signal. A CQI correcting section corrects the CQI value that has been calculated by the CQI converter, in accordance with the block error rate. A CQI transmitter transmits the CQI value that has been corrected by the CQI correcting section, to the base transceiver station.

When the transmission error is detected, the retransmission request transmission section transmits a retransmission request to request the retransmission of the packet in which the transmission error is detected, to the base station, and the sample timing control section shifts the sample timing of the A/D converter by a half clock.

This transmission power control device may further include an autonomous controller that increases transmission power from a current value in accordance with predetermined characteristics, regardless of transmission power control information from another communication device, when reception signal quality has become lower than a predetermined quality level. With this structure, after synchronization with a signal from the base station is established at the mobile station, the transmission power is controlled to increase from the initial value in accordance with the predetermined characteristics, regardless of the transmission power control information transmitted from the base station.

When the aimed number of fingers is satisfied and there is a path to be added, an unused finger is used if any and, when there is only an effective finger, the number of fingers assigned to a branch signal is not increased.
