The heat-developable color photographic material can easily provide a clear and stable color image by imagewise exposure to light and a heat-development procedure. A method of forming a color image using the heat-developable color photographic material is also disclosed.

A process for forming an image which comprises heating a light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least a light-sensitive silver halide, a binder and a dye releasing redox compound which is reductive to the light-sensitive silver halide and capable of releasing a hydrophilic dye upon reaction with the light-sensitive silver halide by heating, after imagewise exposure or simultaneously with imagewise exposure, in a substantially water-free condition in the presence of a compound represented by the formula (A): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent or divalent aliphatic group; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, which may be the same or different from each other, each represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group or an aromatic group; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be taken together to form a heterocyclic ring; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may be taken together to form a heterocyclic ring; and n represents 1 or 2, to imagewise form a mobile dye is disclosed.

A method for forming an image is disclosed, which comprises heating a light-sensitive material having on a support, a light-sensitive silver halide, a binder and a dye releasing redox compound capable of releasing a dye through the reaction with the silver halide by heating, after or simultaneously with imagewise exposure, in the presence of a compound represented by the formula (A): ##STR1## wherein R is an aliphatic group with a valence of m+n, R.sup.1 is an aliphatic or aromatic group, and m and n are each an integer of 1 to 5. The presence of the compound markedly improves the stability of the light-sensitive material during its storage prior to the heat development.

Method for forming images

An image-forming method comprising heating a light-sensitive material in a substantially water-free condition is described. The method uses a light-sensitive material comprised of a support having thereon at least light-sensitive silver halide, a binder, an electron donor and/or electron-transfer agent capable of reducing light-sensitive silver halide, and an immobile dye-releasing substance releasing a mobile dye upon reduction with the electron donor and/or electron-transfer agent.

In accordance with the method of the present invention, a clear color image having a high density can be obtained by a simple procedure and the light-sensitive material has an improved stability during preservation before heat-development procedure and the occurrence of fog and the change in the maximum density are restrained. A light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least a light sensitive silver halide, a binder, a dye releasing redox compound which is capable of reducing the light sensitive silver halide and is capable of reacting with the light-sensitive silver halide by heating to release a hydrophilic dye and a compound represented by the general formula (A) above is also disclosed.
