A read-out image is acquired by covering an image storage sheet, which contains a color image, with an image storage sheet pushing surface of a platen cover and reading out an image of a region on the image storage sheet pushing surface of the platen cover, the region on the image storage sheet pushing surface containing the image storage sheet. A region corresponding to the image storage sheet in the read-out image is then recognized. The image storage sheet pushing surface of the platen cover has a color other than colors which are ordinarily contained in image storage sheets. The region corresponding to the image storage sheet is recognized by judging that a pixel in the read-out image, which pixel represents a color different from the color of the image storage sheet pushing surface of the platen cover, is a pixel falling within the region corresponding to the image storage sheet.

Method and apparatus for recognizing regions corresponding to image storage sheets

During the photographing of an image, photographic data corresponding to the image, such as a photographing date, subject brightness and distance, a shutter speed, an aperture size, data about illumination light, as well as photographic intention data, are recorded on a photographic film. An index code for identifying a recording format of the photographic data is recorded on the photographic film along with the photographic data. During printing, the index code is read out from the photographic film, and one of a plurality of predetermined data conversion tables which are memorized in a printer are selected so as to convert the photographic data into printer codes that can be used in the printer. Then, the photographic data read from the photographic film is converted according to the selected conversion table. Based on the converted photographic data and photometric values obtained from the image to be printed, a print-exposure amount is determined.

Photographic printing method

A method of making photographic prints wherein photographic data relating to photographic conditions of an original frame is recorded on a photographic film at the time of photographing the original frame, so as to determine the print exposure amount for printing the original frame. When it is determined with reference to the photographic data that a primary subject of the original frame has a proper density on the photographic film, the original frame is printed at a basic print exposure amount which is determined without using density data of the original frame. If it is determined with reference to the photographic data that the basic print exposure amount should be corrected for the original frame, an exposure correction amount is calculated based on the photographic data and/or the density data of the original frame. The photographic data is, for example, discrimination data for indicating whether the original frame has been photographed under a proper exposure control, or brightness values measured in a plurality of divisional areas. The photographic data may also be primary subject position data for deriving the density of the primary subject from the density data of the original frame.

Method of making photographic prints

The photographic film product can provide three different aspect ratios in the range of 1.70 to 1.90, and record on the film at least three pieces of information about the aspect ratios. In addition, the photographic film product can provide larger area of optical data-recording portions at longitudinal edges of a film, with the result that various kinds of data can be input and recorded into the portions.

Photographic-film product

A silver halide photographic material containing a support having provided thereon blue-sensitive, green-sensitive, and red-sensitive layers, in which at least the blue-sensitive layer is composed of at least two layers including a more sensitive layer and a less sensitive layer. The most sensitive layer of the blue-sensitive layer is a blue-sensitive layer containing an emulsion of substantially monodispersed grains, and at least one layer other than the most sensitive layer contains an emulsion containing tabular silver halide grains of about 5:1 or more in average aspect ratio. The material has superior sharpness and graininess, and is useful for color photography.

Silver halide photographic material

The present invention provides a photographic film cartridge including a cartridge, a spool carried in the cartridge for rotation about a longitudinal axis of the spool, a film wound into a roll around the spool, the film having frames each of which has an area to be exposed larger than 350 mm.sup.2 but smaller than 1200 mm.sup.2, an optical data-input region formed in the film having an area larger than 15% of the area of the frame, and at least one of electrical data-input device and magnetic data-input device being formed in the film or the cartridge.

Data-retainable photographic film cartridge

A silver halide color negative photosensitive material comprises at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a cyan coupler, at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a magenta coupler and at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a yellow coupler formed on a transparent support, wherein it contains 4.times.10.sup.-4 to 3 g, per m.sup.2 of the support, of a ferromagnetic fine powder and that the green-sensitive emulsion layer contains a coupler such as ##STR1## The photosensitive material makes it possible to shorten a printing time and has an excellent sharpness.

Silver halide color negative photosensitive material

A photographic printing method in which a plurality of image frames photographed on a negative film by a camera, which photometrically measures different areas on an object by a plurality of photometric elements and which determines an exposure, is printed onto photographic paper. Printing processing is effected at an average exposure of the plurality of image frames. Namely, all of the image frames of the negative film are photometrically measured. Average densities of each of R, G, and B of an entire image surface are calculated. An average value of the average densities of all of the image frames of the negative film is calculated. An amount of printing exposure is determined using this average value. Printing processing of all of the image frames is effected at this amount of printing exposure. Accordingly, a large proportion of prints having appropriate densities can be obtained.

A photographic film package having a film wound on a spool in a housing having an exit/entrance port, orients fixedly with a film cartridge chamber of a camera such that the film will exit the package in the winding direction of the camera and exhibit superior flatness at the exposure station of the camera. The film has light-sensitive layers having total layer thickness of not thicker than 30 .mu.m on one side of a transparent support and a back layer containing a hydrophilic polymer having a layer thickness of from 15% to 90% of the total layer thickness of the light-sensitive layers on the other side of the support.

Photographic film package

A photographic printing method for printing a film image onto photographic paper by estimating the color temperature of a subject illuminant, and by changing, in correspondence with the color temperature estimated, a degree of correction of the image density in which an improper color balance occurs in color reproduction with a change in the color temperature of the subject illuminant. By changing the degree of correction in correspondence with the estimated color temperature, it is possible to allow the hues of the subject illuminant to be reflected on the prints. In addition, it is also possible to change the degree of correction in correspondence with the light-source-color information indicative of the photographer's intent in expressing the hues of the original scene. Furthermore, the light quality of the subject illuminant can be estimated from data on the date and time of photographing, a photographed district, a light value at the time of photographing, and information indicative of whether or not an electronic flash was used at the time of photographing, and print exposure amount can be determined in correspondence with the light quality estimated. In addition, by estimating the light quality of the subject illuminant and by determining an average image density from image densities of a plurality of frames photographed under a subject illuminant having specific light quality, it is possible to determine print exposure amount by using the average image density as a reference density.

Determined is a degree of correction in accordance with a length of at least one of two periods from film manufacturing to photographing or from photographing to film developing. A printing light quantity is corrected in accordance with this degree, and a film image is printed on photographic paper, thereby optimizing the printing light quantity to all films by correcting time-elapsed variations in film characteristics.

Method of and apparatus for printing a photograph

A silver halide color photographic material excellent in stability, which comprises at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on a support and having a specific photographic sensitivity of 320 or more, wherein the total silver content in said silver halide color photographic material is in the range of from 3.0 to 9.0 g/m.sup.2 and the weight ratio of the amount of gold per unit area to the amount of silver incorporated per unit area is in the range of from 1.times.10.sup.-8 to 6.0.times.10.sup.-6.

Silver halide color photographic material

A silver halide photographic material comprising a film support having thereon at least one hydrophilic colloid layer, at least one of which is a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the film support is a polyester film having a water content of at least 0.5 wt %, and at least one gelatin-containing layer contains a vinylsulfone based film hardening agent.

A miniaturized package of a photosensitive material, which comprises a silver halide photosensitive material comprising a transparent synthetic resin support having at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer formed thereon and a sealed container containing the photosenstive material, the support having a water content of 0.3 to 1.5% by weight and the content volume of the sealed container being 0.08 x cm.sup.3 or less when the area of one surface of the photosensitive material is x cm.sup.2. By this miniaturized package, the size and weight of camera can be reduced. The photographic properties of the photosensitive material contained in the package are not easily deteriorated.
