In an elevator drive sheave, positioning of divided segments in a circumferential direction relative to a sheave body and transmission of torque between the sheave body and the divided segments are performed by a torque transmission mechanism having a plurality of keys interposed between the sheave body and the divided segments. A projecting portion projecting radially inward is disposed on an axial end portion of the divided segments, a contact surface being disposed on the projecting portions. Positioning of the divided segments in an axial direction relative to the sheave body is performed by the contact surface being placed in contact with an axial end surface of the sheave body.

Drive sheave of elevator

An elevator hoist apparatus con, rising a base, a speed reduction mechanism mounted on the base and including an input shaft to which driving power source is to be connected and an output shaft to which a sheave is connected, and a cover mounted to the base and covering the speed reduction gear. The speed reduction mechanism my comprise a bearing pedestal mounted to the base and a plurality of parallel axis gears supported by the bearing pedestal. A positioning means is disposed between the base and the speed reduction mechanism for positioning the bearing pedestal of the speed reduction mechanism relative to the base. At least one of the bearing pedestals of the speed reduction mechanism may be at least partially supported by other of the bearing pedestals. The speed reduction gear mechanism includes an intermediate gear and wherein the bearing pedestal supporting the intermediate gear is in engagement with and supported solely by the bearing pedestal supporting the input shaft and the bearing pedestal supporting the output shaft. A method for manufacturing an elevator hoist apparatus comprises the steps of preparing a base, mounting to the base a speed reduction mechanism including an input shaft to be connected to a driving power source and an output shaft to be connected to a rope sheave, and mounting a cover for covering the speed reduction mechanism to the base.

Elevator hoist apparatus and manufacturing method therefor

A brake unit for an elevator hoist apparatus for use with an electric motor output shaft includes a brake disc mounted to the motor output shaft and a pair of brake arm assemblies each having a spring-biased pivotable brake arm and a brake shoe attached to one end of the brake arm for frictional engagment with the brake disc. The electromagnetic actuator is connected to the other end of the brake arms for separating the brake shoes from the brake disc against the braking springs. Each brake spring is a coil spring having a longitudinal axis extending parallel to the motor output shaft, whereby the brake unit can be made compact.

A load detecting apparatus for an elevator for detecting a torsion generated on a rotary shaft of a traction sheave for driving an elevator cage and a counterweight in accordance with a difference between the load of the cage and the counterweight, so that the apparatus is capable of detecting with precision an unbalanced load, even when the passengers are standing on one side of the cage platform.

An elevator hoist apparatus of the type disposed in the bottom of a hoistway has an improved structure for securing the apparatus to the wall of the hoistway. The apparatus also comprises an improved hoist drum having multiple parallel rope grooves formed in the drum so as to spiral around the drum in the same direction from one end of the other to the other. The load acting on the main ropes wrapped around these grooves is thereby equalized, increasing the safety of the apparatus. Furthermore, the ends of the main ropes are secured to the drum so that the main ropes are reliably secured even when there is no tensile force acting on the main ropes.
