A grease composition includes a base oil, a thickener, and an additive. The base oil contains a synthetic oil. The thickener contains a compound having a urea group. The additive contains a phosphoric compound, a calcium-based compound, and a hydrocarbon-based wax. A hub unit includes the grease composition enclosed therein.

An image forming apparatus includes a fixing portion, a sheet conveying portion, a first airflow generating portion, a setting processing portion, and a first drive processing portion. The fixing portion heats a sheet on which a toner image has been transferred to fix the toner image to the sheet. The sheet conveying portion conveys a sheet along a conveyance path that leads to a sheet discharge port via the fixing portion. The first airflow generating portion includes a first fan and generates an airflow flowing upstream from the fixing portion in a conveyance direction of the sheet. The setting processing portion sets a drive speed of the first fan based on either or both of a sheet size, and a conveyance interval at which the sheet conveying portion conveys the sheet. The first drive processing portion drives the first fan at the drive speed set by the setting processing portion.

A developing device includes a developing roller and a developing magnetic pole. The developing roller is disposed to face an image carrier across a predetermined gap. The developing magnetic pole is provided in the developing roller so as to be displaced between first and second magnetic pole positions. When the developing magnetic pole is at the first magnetic pole position, a magnetic field is generated at a first position in the gap. When the developing magnetic pole is at the second magnetic pole position, a magnetic field is generated at a second position in the gap. When a circumferential speed ratio of the developing roller to the image carrier is increased, the developing magnetic pole is displaced toward the second magnetic pole position, and when the circumferential speed ratio is decreased, the developing magnetic pole is displaced toward the first magnetic pole position.

An electricity removing unitincludes a rotating roller part, a brush part, a driving part, and a restraint member. The brush partincludes a plurality of conductive fiber bristleshaving base end portions connected to a peripheral surface of the rotating roller part. The driving part rotationally drives the rotating roller part. The restraint member abuts the brush partfrom a rotation downstream side, thereby inclining the plurality of conductive fiber bristlesto an upstream side from a downstream side of a rotational direction toward a radial outside and thus reforming them. In this way, the restraint member restrains a distance between a front end of each conductive fiber bristleand the peripheral surface of the rotating roller partto a setting distance set in advance.

Fixing device and image forming apparatus including the same

Three links within one width-direction unit are included in respectively different link units. The links in the first row and the sixth row from the right end and the left end of a chain are included in the same link unit. The links in the second row and the fifth row are included in the same link unit. The links in the ninth row and the tenth row are included in the same link unit other than the link unit in which the links in the second row and the fifth row are included. With the above structure, the stress amplitude of the links forming a chain for a chain-type continuously variable transmission can be reduced.

A chain, wound to span between two pulleys each having facing conical surfaces able to change a distance therebetween and sandwiched by the facing conical surfaces, includes: link units each configured such that plate-shaped links, each having openings, are oriented in a chain circumferential direction and arranged in a chain width direction; and pins each extending through the openings of the links of the link units adjacent in the chain circumferential direction and each contacting the conical surfaces of sheaves at both ends thereof. A curvature radius of a shape curve representing a shape of each end face of each pin in a plane perpendicular to the chain circumferential direction is larger at an inner side in a pulley radial direction than at an initial contact point that is a contact point at the time when a load on each pin is 0.

The fixing device includes a fixing member heated from inside; and a pressing member forming a fixing nip with the fixing member. A toner image transferred on a sheet is heated and pressed so as to be fixed on the sheet at the fixing nip through which the sheet is nipped and conveyed. The fixing member includes, on an inner circumferential surface thereof, a heat absorbing layer containing heat-conductive fillers oriented in a direction intersecting with a conveying direction of the sheet.

Fixing device and image forming apparatus

Three links () within one width-direction unit () are included in respectively different link units (). The links in the first row and the sixth row from the right end and the left end of a chain are included in the same link unit (first link unit-). The links in the second row and the fifth row are included in the same link unit (second link unit-). A chain (endless flexible member) is looped over an input pulley and an output pulley. Each of the input pulley and the output pulley includes a pair of a fixed sheave and a movable sheave. The fixed sheave and the movable sheave have tapered faces that are opposed to each other to define a V-shaped groove. A vibration damping plate (vibration damping member) is fixed to each fixed sheave, and is in contact with the outer peripheral face of the fixed sheave. When the fixed sheave vibrates, the vibrations are damped by the friction between the outer peripheral face of the fixed shave and the vibration damping plate.

Continuously variable transmission

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member, a transport belt, a driving roller, a transferring member, a nip portion, and an applying portion. The transferring member makes contact with the inner circumferential surface of the transport belt to press the transport belt against the image carrying member. The nip portion is formed between the transport belt and the image carrying member by the pressure of the transferring member. The applying portion applies a bias to the transferring member. Application of the bias to the transferring member causes, at the nip portion, the toner image carried on the image carrying member to be transferred to the recording medium carried on the transport belt. Near the nip portion, a pair of support members are arranged which keeps both width-direction end parts of the transport belt in contact with the image carrying member.

The present application discloses an image forming apparatus for forming an image by means of toner. The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier including an image carrying surface to form an electrostatic latent image; a developing device which supplies the toner to the image carrying surface to form a toner image; and a suction device configured to create airflow for suctioning the toner scattered from the developing device. The developing device includes a duct configured to guide the airflow to the suction device. The duct includes a connection surface, to which the suction device is connected, and a suction surface provided with suction ports into which the toner flows. The suction ports aligned in a direction apart from the connection surface include different suction ports in ventilation area.

A power transmission device includes a tubular stabilizer which is arranged between a primary pulley and a secondary pulley, and through which a string portion of a power transmitting chain is passed so as to be movable relative to the stabilizer whereby movement of the power transmitting chain is restricted. The stabilizer is supported by the power transmitting chain and is moved in the traveling direction of the power transmitting chain as the power transmitting chain moves in the traveling direction, and a movement of the stabilizer of which the amount is larger than or equal to a predetermined amount is restricted by a restricting device.

This invention provides a one-way clutch capable of hindering the generation of a coating between each sprag and each of inner and outer rings thereby preventing sprags and inner and outer rings from being damaged due to the slip therebetween and thereby lengthening the life of the engagement between each sprag and each of the inner and outer rings. The difference in surface hardness between each sprag () and each of an inner ring () and an outer ring () is set to be larger than a hardness of Rockwell C-scale HRC0 and to be equal to or smaller than HRC15.

Image transfer method and apparatus in which scratches due to entrainment of particles on an image carrier for a toner image having maximum spectroreflectivity at a wavelength of 550 nm do not produce perceptible flaws in resulting images transferred to a recording medium, since images formed with toner of maximum spectroreflectivity at 550 nm on white recording medium are difficult for human eyes to discern. When cleaning residual toner from transfer belts, reverse bias voltage is applied to at least one transfer roller, the peripheral velocity of the photosensitive drum on which a yellow toner image having maximum spectroreflectivity at 550 nm is formed is allowed to differ from the transfer velocity of the transfer belt, and at least the photosensitive drum on which the yellow toner image of maximum spectroreflectivity at 550 nm is formed is detached from the transfer belt.
