A data processing apparatus includes a storing unit that stores, for each device, pieces of configuration data defining respective logic circuits that demonstrate different processing performance; a logic circuit configuration unit that configures a combination of the logic circuits onto the devices by reading a piece of the configuration data for each device, from among the pieces of the configuration data stored, and inputting the read pieces of the configuration data to the devices, respectively; a measuring unit that measures total power consumption required at execution of the data processing by the devices; and a logic circuit determining unit that determines, from among combinations of the logic circuits configured, a combination in which an actually measured value of total power consumption falls within a predetermined target value and which demonstrates optimum processing performance as the logic circuits to be configured onto the devices at actual execution of the data processing.

Data processing apparatus and method

A method is disclosed for setting a master node of a ring network that has adjacently connected nodes situated on rightward and leftward lines of a bidirectional transmission channel. The method includes the steps of: counting the number of nodes interposed between a designated node and each node other than the designated node on the rightward and leftward lines of the bidirectional transmission channel; and setting one of the nodes as the master node. The master node satisfies a relation of, NHC_L=NHC_R or NHC_L=NHC_R-, wherein NHC_L is the number of interposed nodes counted from the leftward line, and NHC_R is the number of interposed nodes counted from the rightward line.

A wireless repeater on a communication line has a structure that includes a plurality of wireless communication media, and a band control unit that changes the first bandwidth of the communications line according to increase and decrease in the number of wireless communication media by an operation dividing the first bandwidth of the communications line into a plurality of second bandwidths and an operation multiplexing a plurality of second bandwidths adjusting to the first bandwidth, responding to the number of the wireless communication media.

Wireless repeater, the method for wireless repeating, and data communications system

A transmission device capable of configuring a communication network over which MC packets are forwarded in a way that does not use bands with futility is disclosed. The transmission device is so configured to transmit, when receiving a multicast packet from a host, to the other transmission device the multicast packet that is to be discarded by the transmission device having no necessity of forwarding the received multicast packet to the next transmission device.

An optical transceiver is coupled to a U-shaped optical bus and to data terminals employing CSMA/CD. The optical transceiver includes a converter for carrying out a conversion between data to and from the data terminals and transmitting packets to be transmitted from and receiving packets to be received by the data terminals via the converter, an optical bus interface for matching the transmitting and receiving packets to the U-shaped optical bus which is used as a transmission line, a common bus which provides a data transfer path between the converter and the data terminals during transmitting and receiving operations, a transmitting packet intermission part for intermitting the transmitting packets in response to a transmission control signal, a receiving packet intermission part for intermitting the receiving packets in response to a reception control signal, and a controller for generating the transmission control signal and the reception control signal based on timings of the transmitting packet and the receiving packet, a relationship between the transmitting packet and a corresponding receiving packet which is looped back from the U-shaped optical bus, and a collision notification. The converter notifies a collision on the common bus based on an impedance of the common bus by supplying the collision notification to the controller.
