A tag reading apparatus comprises a passage that is configured to receive an RFID-tagged article that is to be registered in a transaction. The passage has an inlet end and an outlet end separated from each other in a first direction and width in a second direction. An antenna is in the passage at a position between the inlet and outlet ends in the first direction. An RFID reader is provided to read an RFID tag according to a response wave from the RFID tag received via the antenna. A controller is configured to identify the RFID-tagged article as being in the transaction according to a change in the response wave (such as a phase difference or intensity) corresponding to a movement of the RFID-tagged article from the inlet end to the outlet end.

Tag reading system

Generally, in accordance with one embodiment, a monitoring system comprises a sensor, a wireless tag, a reader and a notification apparatus. The sensor is correspondingly arranged in a structure. The wireless tag is a passive wireless tag which is correspondingly arranged in the structure to send identification information and measurement information of the sensor by using received electromagnetic wave as a drive source. The reader communicates with the wireless tag to acquire the identification information and the measurement information. The notification apparatus acquires the identification information and the measurement information from the reader, detects a wireless tag or a structure serving as a notification target based on the identification information and the measurement information, and notifies the notification target.

According to one embodiment, a coordinate recognition apparatus includes a detection device, a first calculation section, a second calculation section, and a setting section. The detection device detects an operation for an operation area. The first calculation section calculates coordinates of an operation position by a user on the basis of the detection result of the detection device. The second calculation section calculates the smoothed coordinates by smoothing a particular number m (m&#x3e;0) of samples among the coordinates calculated by the first calculation section counted from the new one in a calculation order. The setting section sets a value of the number m of samples to be smaller as the speed of movement of the operation position is higher.

Coordinate recognition apparatus and control method thereof

According to one embodiment, a coordinate recognition apparatus includes a plurality of light-emitting devices, a plurality of light-receiving devices, and a controller. The light-emitting devices and the light-receiving devices are arranged in an array along X direction. The controller forms a plurality of groups of light paths each formed by a plurality of light paths parallel to one another in a plane including the light-emitting devices and the light-receiving devices such that an angle of the light paths varies from group to group, identifies positions p and l of each of the groups in the X direction of the light-emitting device and the light-receiving device corresponding to the light path that passes through the center of a light shield region, and calculates coordinates of the center of the light shield region in the plane based on the identified positions p and l of each of the groups.

Apparatus and method for recognizing coordinates

According to one embodiment, a coordinate recognizing apparatus includes plural light emitting elements, plural light receiving elements, a memory, and a controller. The memory stores, concerning plural pairs of the light emitting elements and the light receiving elements set in advance, reference values used for determination of blocking of a light path. The controller performs, concerning the respective pairs, actions for collecting, plural times, a difference between first intensity indicated by a detection signal output from the light receiving element, which is a pair of the light emitting element, in a state in which the light emitting element is caused to emit light and second intensity indicated by a detection signal output from the light receiving element during non-light emission of the light emitting element and updating the reference value of the pair stored in the memory using a minimum of differences collected plural times.

Coordinate recognizing apparatus and control method therefor

According to one embodiment, the flow line recognition system includes a first device, a first recording unit, a second device, a second recording unit and a generation unit. The first device detects a position of a moving object in a monitoring area by laser scanning. The second device detects a position of the moving object in a specific area, which is a part of the monitoring area, more accurately than the first device. The generation unit generates flow line information indicative of a path of the moving object moving in the monitoring area, based on the moving object information for the monitoring area recorded in the first recording unit, and the moving object information for the specific area recorded in the second recording unit.

In a bar code reading apparatus, a laser beam emitted from a laser beam source disposed in a casing is reflected by a rotational mirror to scan a bar code. The reflected laser beam is reflected by a fixed scan mirror having four mirror members continually arranged with given angles therebetween, and the resultant beams are irradiated outward through a read window formed in the casing. Multiple scan lines in multiple directions are obtained on a normal plane to the read window. These scan lines consist of two groups of vertical scan lines in the normal plane, and two groups of oblique scan lines inclined at a given angle with respect to the horizontal direction.
