A transmission includes: a casing of the transmission; a shaft rotatably supported by the casing and having an oil passage; plural gears mounted on the shaft. The lubricant is partly lifted and stirred in response to a shift operation implemented by selectively engaging and rotating the gears. The transmission further includes a lubricating mechanism placed at a position higher than the shaft and having an upper end opening in an upward direction so as to collect and store the lifted lubricant. The lubricating mechanism is provided with an oil supply port through which the lubricant is guided to the oil passage of the shaft.

Transmission

A sleeve spline structure of a synchronizer capable of lowering contact pressure in synchronization action is provided. The sleeve spline structure of a synchronizer has a first tooth portion for synchronization in acceleration, a second tooth portion for synchronization in deceleration, and a third tooth portion in a shape readily inserted between tooth portions of a gear piece.

A vehicle drive unit including (a) a transversely-mounted engine, (b) a transmission receiving an output of the engine and having an output shaft, and (c) a differential gear device including a ring gear and arranged to transmit an output of the transmission to a pair of right and left drive wheels while permitting a differential action, and wherein the differential gear device is located on one side of the engine which is on the side of the right and left drive wheels, and rotary power transmitting elements between an output gear fixedly mounted on the output shaft of the transmission and the ring gear of the differential gear device are arranged in a single row parallel to the longitudinal direction of vehicle, so that the vehicle drive unit has a relatively small axial dimension in the transverse or width direction B of the vehicle.

A driving force transmission system comprising: a coupling case and a shaft arranged rotatably relative to each other; a pilot clutch and a main clutch for controlling a torque transmission between the coupling case and the shaft; an electromagnet for controlling the actions of the pilot clutch and the main clutch; and oil retaining the functions of the pilot clutch and the main clutch. This system further comprises a coupling case, a shaft, a rotor, and X-ring and an O-ring isolating a coupling oil chamber, in which the pilot clutch and the main clutch are arranged, liquid-tight from the surrounding space.

Driving force transmission system

A driving force transmission system comprising: a coupling case and a shaft arranged rotatably relative to each other; a pilot clutch and a main clutch for controlling a torque transmission between the coupling case and the shaft; an electromagnet for controlling the actions of the pilot clutch and the main clutch; and oil for retaining the functions of the pilot clutch and the main clutch. This system further comprises a coupling case, a shaft, a rotor, an X-ring and an O-ring for isolating a coupling oil chamber, in which the pilot clutch and the main clutch are arranged, liquid-tight from the surrounding space.

A shifting device for a synchromesh-type transmission is designed to detect an accurate change of the input rotation of each area of the shifting operation, and to set the applying load to the shifting fork based on the change of input rotation. The shifting device for a synchromesh-type transmission includes a detecting device for detecting a rotation change rate of an input shaft, a judging device for judging a balk point based on the rotation change rate of the input shaft detected by said detecting device, and a transmission controlling mechanism including an electric-controlled driving device for driving a shift actuator to shift the shift fork. The driving device controls a drive current to the shift actuator when the balk point is detected by the judging device.

Power transmitting device wherein power received from drive source (22) through an input member (44) is distributed to two side gears (12, 14) engaging respective pinions (16, 18), so as to permit differential rotation of the side gears, through differential case (10) which houses the side gears and rotatably supports the pinions, and through a partition wall (42) which is interposed between the side gears so as to be rotated with the input member and the differential casing.

Balls to be moved radially outward by a centrifugal force are held in a clutch hub, and projections extending around the outer circumferences of the balls are united with a synchronizer ring. Those portions of the projections, which radially confront the balls, are formed with slopes for establishing an axial force to push the synchronizer ring away from the spline piece on the basis of the centrifugal force of the balls. Thus, the axial force for disengaging the synchronizer ring from a rotating member to be synchronized can be increased to prevent the chatter at a low number of revolution and to effectively eliminate the drag torque at a high number of revolution.

Synchronizer for transmission

A gear speed change system includes an input shaft, an output shaft coaxial therewith, a first counter shaft disposed parallel to the input and output shafts, and a second counter shaft coaxial with the first counter shaft. The input shaft and the first counter shaft, and the second counter shaft and the output shaft are coupled at a fixed ratio, respectively. One of gear sets selectively couples the input shaft to the second counter shaft and the output shaft to the first counter shaft, respectively. A clutch is provided between the first and the second counter shafts. With this construction, speed changes by the first counter shaft, the second counter shaft, and the combination of the first and second counter shafts may be effected, thereby reducing the number of required gear sets as compared with that of the speed change steps. The first counter shaft and the second counter shaft may be replaced with each other.

In a power transfer mechanism including an input shaft arranged to be applied with drive torque from a prime mover of a motor vehicle, a first output shaft arranged coaxially with the input shaft for drive connection to a first set of drive axles and a second output shaft arranged in parallel with the first output shaft for drive connection to a second set of drive axles, a planetary gearset of the double pinion type is mounted on the first output shaft to transfer the drive torque from the input shaft to the first and second output shafts, the planetary gearset including a ring gear in drive connection to the input shaft, a sun gear in drive connection to the first output shaft and a planet carrier for drive connection to the second output shaft, a limited-slip differential in the form of a viscous fluid coupling is disposed between the ring gear and planet carrier to limit differential action between the first and second output shafts, and a drive train for drive connection between the planet carrier and the second output shaft is located at the rear side of the viscous fluid coupling.

Power transfer mechanism for motor vehicle

A power transfer device of the type which includes a housing, a first shaft rotatably mounted within the housing to transfer drive torque from a power transmission to a set of rear-wheel drive axles, a second shaft rotatably mounted within the housing in parallel with the first shaft for drive connection to a set of front-wheel drive axles, and a pair of clutch sleeves mounted on the first and second shafts and shiftable between respective positions in which they effect drive connection or disconnection between the first and second shafts. A shift mechanism for the clutch sleeves includes a shift rod arranged in parallel with the first and second shafts and axially movably mounted within the housing, a first shift fork axially slidably mounted on the shift rod and coupled with one of the clutch sleeves, a second shift fork fixedly mounted on the shift rod at a position adjacent the first shift fork and coupled with the other clutch sleeve, and a retainer element fixed to the shift rod at a position where it is spaced in a predetermined distance from the first shift fork when the second shift fork is maintained in engagement with the first shift fork.

Shift mechanism in power transfer device

Disclosed herein is a lubrication mechanism in a parallel dual-shaft type gear transmission which includes intermediate plate arranged between a transmission case and an extension housing and an output shaft and a counter shaft arranged in parallel relation in the transmission case. The lubrication mechanism comprises an oil guiding rib formed along an outer circumference of a small diametrical counter gear arranged in the vicinity of the intermediate plate. With this arrangement, a lubricating oil may be sufficiently supplied to desired areas in the gear transmission by means of a small diametrical counter gear.

An apparatus for preventing gear buzzing in shifting to reverse which is applied to a manual transmission having a plurality of forward gear means provided with synchronous meshing mechanisms and a reverse gear means provided with a selective sliding-gear meshing mechanism driven through a reverse idler gear. An inclined guide surface is formed on a forward shift head, and a projection is formed on a shift-and-select lever. The projection is brought into contact with and slides on the inclined guide surface. A clearance is provided between the forward shift head and an interlocking mechanism so as to permit slight shifting movement of the shift head.

Apparatus for preventing gear buzzing in shifting to reverse

A reverse shift mechanism for a manual automotive transmission of the type having a reverse idler gear which is movable such as to selectively form a reverse gear train. The reverse shift mechanism includes a reverse shift arm carrying a shoe which engages with a circumferential groove in the reverse idler gear so as to push the same gear. An end of the reverse shift arm adjacent the reverse idler gear is formed with a hole, while the shoe has an end which is shaped to fit in the hole. In the assembly, end of the shoe fits in the hole formed in the reverse shift arm so that the shoe is prevented from coming off. After assembly, the shoe is clamped between the groove formed in the reverse idler gear and the hole in the reverse shift arm so that it is held in place.
