An apparatus remotely controls, for example, door locking/unlocking and alarm activation of an automobile. A transmitting device transmits communication data, which includes synchronization data and identification data. The communication data is received by the control apparatus in which the identification data included in the received communication data is compared with already stored data. The locking and unlocking of the doors of the vehicle is carried out when the identification data matches the already stored data. A continuous reception condition is detected when the communication data is received for more than a predetermined period of time. When the continuous reception condition is detected, an alarm is actuated. As such, a common transmitting button of the transmitting device can be used to effect both control of the locking and unlocking of doors and alarm activation. The control apparatus may also include an erasable memory which is remotely settable in a writable status and in which identification data can be erased by remote control while in the writable status.

Receiving apparatus

The remote control security system includes a receiver which receives communication data, including identification data, from a transmitter. The system also includes a device for locking and unlocking doors when the received identification data match prestored identification data. The system also includes a device for determining whether the communication data is continuously received for more than a preset period of time and for generating an alarm when the continuous receiving condition is determined by a determining device.

In a glass smashing alarm system for generating an alarm when a glass smashing sound is detected, the present invention is directed to reduce the possibility of occurrence of an erroneous alarm, and includes a normal alarm mode in which a preliminary alarm is raised for a short time when a glass smashing sound is detected, and a special alarm mode in which a main alarm is raised for a long time when the glass smashing sound is detected, and is constituted in such a manner that mode switching is effected so as to shift the mode to the special alarm mode at the end of the preliminary alarm, and to return it to the normal alarm mode after the passage of a predetermined time if the glass smashing sound is not detected at the end of the main alarm or during the special alarming mode. In another aspect of the invention, generation of an alarm is inhibited if a key unlock switch is turned ON before passage of a predetermined time from detection of the glass smashing sound.
