A housing of a scroll type expansion machine includes: a suction port formed at a position on the opposite side to a drive shaft with a fixed scroll interposed therebetween; a discharge port formed on the side of a drive-side bearing closer to the tip end of the drive shaft; a low pressure chamber formed on the outer side of an orbiting-side scroll portion when viewed from the axial direction of the drive shaft; and a tip end-side low-pressure space being a space in which a sealing member is disposed, and has: a partition wall partitioning the tip end-side low-pressure space and the low-pressure chamber from each other; and a communication space communicating the tip end-side low-pressure space with the low-pressure chamber.

In a waste heat recovery device comprising a Rankine cycle in which working fluid circulates and a cooling circuit in which coolant water of an engine circulates, a heat source of a heater of the Rankine cycle is waste heat of the engine. A condenser of the Rankine cycle is configured to exchange heat between the working fluid and coolant water of a third coolant water circuit configured to circulate coolant water having passed through a radiator without passing through the engine.

An engine-waste-heat utilization device includes a Rankine cycle with a heat exchanger that is configured to recover engine-waste-heat to refrigerant, an expander that is configured to generate power using the refrigerant coming out from the heat exchanger, a condenser that is configured to condense the refrigerant coming out from the expander and a refrigerant pump that is configured to supply the refrigerant coming out from the condenser to the heat exchanger by being driven by the expander, a power transmission mechanism (crank pulley, pump pulley, belt) that is configured to transmit surplus power to the engine when the expander has spare power even if the refrigerant pump is driven, a clutch that is configured to connect and disconnecting power transmission by the power transmission mechanism, and a case provided near a high-temperature part of the engine such that a shaft of the expander and that of the refrigerant pump are coaxially arranged, the clutch, the refrigerant pump and the expander are integrally housed in this order and the expander has a higher temperature than the clutch.

In a compressor having a discharge valve mechanism, a valve retainer has a curved surface which is faced to and spaced from a movable portion of a flexible plate-like discharge valve and adapted to limit the movement of the movable portion. In a first direction parallel to the valve plate, the movable portion extends from a fixed portion, fixed to a valve plate, to face an exit end of a discharge hole of the valve plate. The curved surface has a plurality of parts different in radius of curvature from one another in a second direction parallel to the valve plate and perpendicular to the first direction.

A method of manufacturing a piston using a swaging tool includes the step of positioning a portion of a first member and a portion of a second member of the piston within a first end of an opening formed through the swaging tool, such that a reduced diameter portion of the second member is substantially aligned with a first ring portion of the first member and an end portion of the second member contacts a second ring portion of the first member to create an annular space adjacent to the first ring portion and the reduced diameter portion. The method also includes the step of subsequently swaging the first ring portion by moving the first ring portion in a direction toward a second end of the swaging tool, such that a portion of the first ring portion is positioned within the annular space to fix the first member to the second member.

A connecting link between a rotor supported by a driving shaft to rotate synchronously with the driving shaft and a variable inclination cam plate supported by the driving shaft of a variable displacement swash plate compressor comprises a first arm extending from the rotor toward the cam plate and a second arm extending from the cam plate toward the rotor. The first arm is provided with an oval guide hole extending at right angles to a plane defined by the central axis of the driving shaft and the top dead center of the cam plate. The second arm is provided with a pin extending at right angles to the plane. The pin has a sector-shaped cross section with rounded apex. The pin is inserted in the oval guide hole with the apex of the sector-shaped cross section abutted against the long side surface of the oval guide hole distant from the rotor and the circular arc portion of the sector-shaped cross section abutted against the long side surface of the oval guide hole close to the rotor.

Connecting link between the rotor and the CAM plate of a variable displacement swash plate compressor

A fluid displacement apparatus includes a cam rotor connected to a drive shaft and having a first arm extending therefrom. A plate is tiltably connected to the drive shaft. The plate has a surface disposed at an adjustable inclined angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the drive shaft and has a second arm extending therefrom. The plate and the piston are coupled, so that the pistons are driven in reciprocating motion within the cylinders upon nutation of the plate. A pin member is disposed in the second arm of the plate. An engaging device is disposed in the cam rotor. The pin member is slidably disposed in the engaging device, so that the cam rotor is coupled to the slant angle for permitting the inclination of the slant plate to vary.

Fluid displacement apparatus with variable displacement mechanism

A front housing (20) has a shaft hole (210) and an oil path (20a) communicating with a crank chamber (15) and the shaft hole to lubricate a bearing supporting a drive shaft (3) and and a shaft seal contained in the shaft hole. A lubricating oil in the crank chamber (15) is scraped by the rotation of the drive shaft (3). An oil trap (19) is formed at one end of the oil path (20a) to effectively collect the lubricating oil which is supplied through the oil path (20a) to the shaft hole (210). The oil trap (19) is formed by a part of a first thrust race (201b) and an oil receiving groove (20g). The first thrust race (201b) has a plurality of finger portions (201d) bent towards a bottom surface of an annular groove (204) formed in an internal wall surface of the front housing (20). The annular groove (204) has a plurality of fitting holes (20h) for receiving the finger portions (201d) therein in one-to-one correspondence. The finger portions (201d) are fitted into the fitting holes (20h) to thereby inhibit the rotation of the first thrust race (201b).
