A fluorescent substance is irradiated with laser light and emits illumination light of a prescribed color. A condenser lens collects the illumination light. A moving mechanism moves the fluorescent substance in a direction toward the condenser lens and in a direction away from the condenser lens. An image display element generates image light by modulating the illumination light according to an image. A light quantity adjustment mechanism adjusts the quantity of the image light by changing the size of an opening through which the illumination light or the image light passes in order to adjust the contrast of a projected image. A controller controls the moving mechanism such that the distance between the fluorescent substance and the condenser lens is a distance in association with an F-number corresponding to the adjustment state of the quantity of the image light implemented by means of the light quantity adjustment mechanism.

Projection type display device

A projection apparatus projects an image on a screen based on input data including information on absolute luminance. The projection apparatus includes: a peak luminance value acquisition unit configured to acquire a peak luminance value on the screen when the projection apparatus projects an image on the screen at a maximum output gradation value; a reference luminance value setting unit configured to set a reference luminance value to be higher than the peak luminance value; a relation information setting unit configured to set, based on the reference and peak luminance values, relation information indicating a relation between an output gradation value and a light output value for displaying an output image; an output gradation value setting unit configured to set an output gradation value based on the input data and the relation information; and an output control unit configured to output an image based on the output gradation value.

Projection apparatus, projection method, and computer-readable storage medium

A first illumination light source emits a first illumination light ray which is a first polarized light. Either one of an s-polarized light and a p-polarized light, which are linearly polarized light, is the first polarized light and the other is a second polarized light. A second illumination light source emits a second illumination light ray. A dichroic mirror includes a specific polarization reflection area and a transmission area. The specific polarization reflection area reflects the first polarized light and transmits the second polarized light and the second illumination light ray. The transmission area transmits the first and second illumination light rays. A phase difference plate converts linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light. A polarization conversion element transmits either the first or second polarized light, shifts an optical axis of the other, and aligns the first and second illumination light rays to the first or second polarized light.

Projector and multi-projection system

A first image display element modulates first illumination light in which red illumination light and infrared illumination light are alternately switched, based on an image signal for visible light image and an image signal for infrared light image, and emits first image light in which red image light and infrared image light are alternately switched. A second image display element modulates green illumination light based on a green image signal, and emits green image light. A third image display element modulates blue illumination light based on a blue image signal, and emits blue image light. A synthesizer synthesizes the first image light, the green image light, and the blue image light with one another, and obtains synthesized image light. A projection unit projects the synthesized image light.

Projector

A light emitting device includes a light source which emits source light having a first wavelength, a fluorescent substance which excites fluorescent light having a second wavelength by the source light and emits the source light and the fluorescent light as illumination light, a fly-eye lens, and a light shielding unit. In the illumination light, a first wavelength component in a first region which is a portion of a region in a cross-sectional view with respect to the traveling direction of the light is smaller than that in a second region which is a region other than the first region. The light shielding unit includes a diaphragm unit which shields the illumination light L and a filter which shields the light having the second wavelength of the illumination light in the second region and transmits the light having the first wavelength of the illumination light in the second region.

Light emitting device and projection type image display apparatus

A projection image display device includes: a light source that emits a blue illumination light; a phosphor that produces, in a region irradiated by the blue illumination light, a yellow illumination light including a component in a red band and a component in a green band from a portion of the blue illumination light and that reflects the blue illumination light and the yellow illumination light; and a filter that reflects a portion of the blue illumination light reflected by the phosphor toward the phosphor. The filter reflects the portion of the blue illumination light so as to be imaged at a position displaced from a region on a phosphor surface irradiated by the blue illumination light, and the phosphor produces a yellow illumination light also from the blue illumination light reflected by the filter.

Projection image display device

A projection-type image display device includes a light source, a phosphor, a filter, and a filter driver. The light source emits blue illumination light. The phosphor generates yellow illumination light, which includes red illumination light and green illumination light from a part of the blue illumination light, and reflects the blue illumination light and the yellow illumination light. The filter reflects the blue illumination light, which is reflected by the phosphor, toward the phosphor, and transmits the yellow illumination light therethrough. The filter driver controls the reflection amount of the blue illumination light toward the phosphor by controlling the insertion amount of the filter onto the optical path of the blue illumination light. The phosphor generates yellow illumination light also from the blue illumination light reflected by the filter.

Projection-type image display device

A projection display device includes a plurality of reflective liquid crystal panels, a plurality of polarizers, and a combining optical system. The combining optical system includes a first incident surface to which first color light emitted from a first reflective liquid crystal panel and reflected by a combining surface of the combining optical system is incident and a second incident surface to which second color light emitted from a second reflective liquid crystal panel and passing through the combining surface is incident. The polarizes include a first polarizer, which reflects the first color light to the first incident surface, and a second polarizer which reflects the second color light to the second incident surface. An alignment direction of the liquid crystal of the first reflective liquid crystal panel is orthogonal to an alignment direction of the liquid crystal of the second reflective liquid crystal panel.

Projection display device

Provided are: a light source device; first, second, and third color separation elements; first, second, and third reflective members which reflect first, second, and third color light in a third direction; first, second, and third reflective liquid crystal panels which optically modulate the first, second, and third color light; a combining optical system which combines the optically modulated first, second and third color light to generate combined light; a projection optical system which projects the combined light; and a relay optical system which is arranged in an optical path of the first color light between the first color separation element and the first reflective liquid crystal panel and forms an erect image.

A projection-type image display device includes a light source, a phosphor, and a filter. The light source emits a first blue illumination light. The phosphor generates a first yellow illumination light of a first wavelength band, which includes a component of a red band and a component of a green band, from a part of the first blue illumination light, and reflects a second blue illumination light and the first yellow illumination light. The filter reflects, to the phosphor side, a third blue illumination light that is a part of the second blue illumination light reflected by the phosphor, and attenuates a component of a second wavelength band of the first yellow illumination light, which is narrower than the first wavelength band. The phosphor also generates a second yellow illumination light from the third blue illumination light reflected by the filter.

[Task] It is to provide a projection type display apparatus which enhances the contrast performance while minimizing a reduction in the brightness by blocking a light beam which would decrease the contrast through the use of diaphragms provided in both of an illumination optical system and a projection lens.
