When an accepting unit is removed from a main unit, a situation of the main unit is detected whether belonging to waiting situations, operation situations, malfunction situations, or the like. A display part then displays images in accordance with the detected situations. The display part is arranged on the accepting unit that is removable from the main unit. An image forming apparatus that can support the user in sleep mode is provided. When the apparatus enters sleep mode, guidance information is displayed on an electronic paper. The electronic paper maintains displayed contents even when power is not supplied and, therefore, even when power is not supplied to a display panel in the sleep mode, the display for the user is continuously given, thereby supporting the user.

A fixing device according to this invention includes a heating roller, a heater driver, a thermistor, and a CPU. The heating roller has a heater and heats a recording sheet. The heater driver drives the heater. The thermistor detects a surface temperature of the heating roller. The CPU stops an operation of the heater driver when the surface temperature of the heating roller becomes higher than a predetermined temperature and, thereafter, causes the thermistor to perform detection of the surface temperature of the heating roller for a predetermined time period and issues an alarm about occurrence of a first abnormality when the surface temperature of the heating roller fails to drop in the predetermined time period.

A bypass transporting path apparatus is disposed on a color image recording apparatus and a transporting path connecting apparatus is disposed between a front portion of a monochrome image recording apparatus and a rear portion of the color image recording apparatus. This system includes an operational state monitoring portion that monitors the operational states of the color image recording apparatus and the monochrome image recording apparatus, and a power supply controlling portion that performs control based on the operational states of the color image recording apparatus and the monochrome image recording apparatus to shift any one image recording apparatus to a power saving state and to make the other image recording apparatus wait in a recordable state.

Image recording system and program

An image recording system includes two image recording apparatuses each capable of recording images independently. A color image recording apparatus is disposed with a bypass transporting path apparatus. A transporting path connecting apparatus is disposed between the front of a monochrome image recording apparatus and the back of the color image recording apparatus. A final processing apparatus that is common to the color and monochrome image recording apparatuses is disposed in the front of the color image recording apparatus. This system includes a process switching portion that switches an image recording process executed by one image recording apparatus to a substitute image recording process of the other image recording apparatus and a switching determining portion that determines whether the switching is executed by the process switching portion, depending on whether a predetermined condition is satisfied.

It is an object of the invention to enable a maintenance work to be executed with appropriate timing. When jam occurrence is detected by jam sensors placed in a plurality of positions in a sheet transporting path, a control section changes a display state such as a shape and a blinking period of a mark in a display section, in accordance with history information which is stored in a storage section. When the display contents of the display section is visually checked, the part where the jam has occurred can be identified from the display position of the mark, and the jam occurrence history in the part can be known from the shape and the blinking period of the mark. Therefore, it is possible to correctly judge the necessity of a maintenance work.

Abnormality displaying apparatus for use in image forming apparatus

A support for recording sheet in which there is no film cracking, the occurrence of die-lip stripes is inhibited, and which has excellent image sharpness and has excellent light fading resistance. The support for recording sheet is provided with a substrate having an image printing side and another side opposite the image printing side, a water resistant resin coating layer provided on each side of the substrate, at least the resin coating layer provided on the image printing side containing a titanium dioxide pigment, the titanium dioxide pigment including a titanium dioxide having a particulate surface treated by a silane coupling agent and aluminum phosphate in an aqueous slurry state, with a treatment amount of the aluminum phosphate with respect to the titanium dioxide being from 0.05 wt % to 1.2 wt %.

Support for recording sheet

A document feeder includes: a document detecting device arranged on the top of the copier body, for detecting a document inserted from the outside; a feed roller arranged adjacent to the document detecting device, on the top of the copier body, for feeding an inserted document into a space between the original table and the original cover, in response to the detection of a document by the document detecting device; and an original cover lifting device arranged on the top of the copier body, for lifting the original cover to create a gap between the original table and the original cover, in response to the detection of a document by the document detecting device. Alternatively, the feed roller further has a rotary cam on its shaft, so that the cam rotates to lift the original cover up as the feed roller rotates in the document feeding direction. Then, after the document is fed in place, the feed roller is reversely rotated in a constant time, whereby the document cover is sunk to press the document onto the original table.

Document feeder and cover for an image forming apparatus

A support for a photographic printing paper comprising a substrate having a back side on which side an emulsion layer is not coated and a front side, and both sides of the substrate are coated with a waterproof resin coating. The waterproof resin coating on the back side of the substrate is a multi-layer laminate comprising an upper resin layer and a lower resin layer provided nearer to the substrate than the upper layer. The lower resin layer contains high density polyethylene having an MFR of not less than 8 in an amount of not less than 90% by weight based on the total weight of resin. Furthermore, the lower resin layer is thinner than the upper layer.

Support for photographic printing paper

A feed roller for feeding a document is disposed between a control panel and an original table on the top of a copier body. A document stocker provided rotatably relative to an original cover on the original table is rotated so as to cover the control panel, whereby the original cover is raised from the original table to create some clearance. In this situation, a document is inserted through the document stocker from a document inserting port. The document thus inserted is detected by the operation of a detecting lever, which activates the feed roller to convey the inserted document to the original table. As the rear part of the document thus conveyed is detected by the operation of the detecting lever, the feed roller is deactivated. In this condition, copying operation is carried out so that an image of the document conveyed onto the original table is formed.

A silver halide photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion layer provided on a support. The silver halide emulsion layer contains a selenium compound represented by the formula (I), (IIa) or (IIb): ##STR1## in which each of R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 is hydrogen, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, --OR.sup.13 or --NR.sup.14 R.sup.15 ; each of R.sup.21 and R.sup.31 is an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, --OR.sup.23 or --NR.sup.24 R.sup.25 ; each of R.sup.22 and R.sup.32 is an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group; each of R.sup.13, R.sup.14, R.sup.15, R.sup.23, R.sup.24 and R.sup.25 is hydrogen, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group; and Ch is S, Se or Te.

Silver halide photographic material containing selenium compound

A silver halide photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion layer and a non-light-sensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer provided on a support. The silver halide emulsion layer or the hydrophilic colloidal layer contains a selenium compound represented by the formula (I), (II) or (III): ##STR1## in which R.sup.11 is an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic group, --OR.sup.13 or --NR.sup.14 R.sup.15 ; each of R.sup.13, R.sup.14 and R.sup.15 is hydrogen or an aliphatic or aromatic group; Ch is S, Se or Te; R.sup.12 is an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic group or --COR.sup.16 ; each of R.sup.16, R.sup.21 and R.sup.31 has the same meaning as that of R.sup.11 ; M.sup.1 is Ge, Sn or Pb; M.sup.2 is Ni, Pd or Pt; each of R.sup.22 and R.sup.32 is an aliphatic or aromatic group; and each of n and m is 1 or 2.

A method for driving a twisted nematic type liquid crystal shutter, the liquid crystal shutter having a pair of transparent substrates held opposite to each other; a pair of patterned transparent electrodes each formed on the planes of the transparent substrates and arranged opposite to each other so that the overlapping parts of the patterns form display pixels; a pair of aligning film each formed on the pattern of the transparent electrode and on the plane; a liquid crystal material contained in a space between the transparent substrates; and a pair of transmission type polarizers each arranged on the outside plane of the transparent substrate which is counter to the plane on which the patterned transparent electrode is formed, comprising the steps of: applying an electric voltage to establish static or multiplex driving to the transparent electrodes so as to prevent the transmission of incident light when no image signal is received from an external apparatus; and preventing the application of the electric voltage to transparent electrodes which relate to the pixels selected by the image signal so as to permit the transmission incident light when the image signal is received from the external apparatus.
