A motorcycle wherein only air can be communicated between the inside and the outside of a gear case without increasing the size of the gear case. A gear case includes a gear case body and a gear case cover. The gear case body includes a breather chamber of a labyrinth structure which continues in a circumferential direction of a rear wheel and extends in an upward and downward direction. An upper end of the breather chamber is in communication with a breather path and is open to atmospheric air while a lower end of the breather chamber is in communication with a gear chamber through a slit extending in a widthwise direction of the rear wheel.

A beach cleaner for recovering relatively heavy garbage or stones while minimizing the amount of sand entering a garbage recovery unit. The beach cleaner includes a frame formed by a longitudinal member and a lateral member. A towed portion is provided at the front portion of the frame for towing by a tow vehicle. A separator is provided at the lower front portion of the frame to separate and scrape garbage from sandy ground. A front fork for a saddle-type vehicle includes a front wheel and a pair of left and right leg members disposed on opposite sides of the front wheel. Each of the left and right leg members includes an outer tube having a lower end portion thereof journaling an axle of the front wheel, an inner tube slidably fitted into the outer tube and having an upper portion thereof connected to a head pipe of the vehicle, and a spring installed in a compressed state between the outer and inner tubes. The respective springs of the left and right leg members are set to have different weights from one another. As such, the front fork is configured to correct a weight imbalance between left and right sides of the vehicle body, while increasing freedom in the layout of the vehicle body.

Brake control system for vehicle

A motorcycle includes a rear fork with a first and the second extending portions, and a cross portion, the cross section linking the first and the second extending portions together. The first extending portion extends toward a first side of a rear wheel, the second extending portion extends toward a second side of the rear wheel. The first extending portion, which has an open cross sectional structure and through which a drive shaft is passed, is made to have larger outer diameter than the second extending portion, which has a closed cross sectional structure. Nonetheless, the rigidity of the first extending portion and the second extending portion are approximately the same. The drive shaft extends rearwardly and passes through the opening on the inside of the first extending portion.

In a motorcycle in which a rear fork is swingably provided on a vehicle body frame with a power unit, a rear wheel is provided at a rear end of the rear fork, a drive shaft is provided between a gear case on a lateral side of the rear wheel and an output shaft of the power unit, and output power of the power unit is transmitted to the rear wheel through the drive shaft and the gear case. The rear fork extends along a lateral side of the rear wheel and has an arm through which the drive shaft passes. The arm has a tubular base part with a closed cross section, and a rear part with an open cross section through which the drive shaft passes. The base part has a thick-walled area at the rear end of the base part.

A motorcycle includes a vehicle body frame, an engine, a pivot shaft, a swing arm, a rear wheel, a gear case, a drive shaft section, and a bearing section. The drive shaft section includes a first drive shaft connected to an output power shaft of the engine through a first universal coupling and a second drive shaft disposed coaxially with the first drive shaft and connected to the first drive shaft through a spline portion to be movable in an axial direction with respect to the first drive shaft. The bearing section restrains relative movement of the first drive shaft and the second drive shaft along a diametrical direction. The bearing section is interposed between an inner circumferential face of one of the first drive shaft and the second drive shaft and an outer circumferential face of another of the first drive shaft and the second drive shaft.

A motorcycle includes a head pipe that is disposed at a front portion of a vehicle body and makes front forks pivot, and a pair of left and right down tubes that extend downward from the head pipe and extend to the rear side of an engine under the engine, wherein connecting members for connecting brake hoses that are formed of elastic members to respective brake pipes that are formed of metal pipes are disposed behind the head pipe, and the brake hoses that extend from the connecting members to a brake for a front wheel extend frontward after passing between the pair of the left and right down tubes.

A shaft of a pinion gear is engaged with a ring gear extends toward the front side in a final gear case that is provided in a power transmission system between a power unit and a wheel. Splines are provided on each of an outer circumference of the shaft, and on an inner circumference of a cylindrical portion of a pinion joint that forms a receiving portion of a joint provided at the rear end of a drive shaft for transmitting power from the power unit to the pinion gear. The two splines are engaged with each other. The pinion joint is fixed to the pinion gear by a bolt that is threadedly engaged with a threaded portion formed at the lower portion of a hole in the pinion gear shaft. A flexible portion of the bolt is formed between a head portion and the threaded portion of the bolt.

Shaft drive device

A motorcycle is provided with a rear fork attached to a body frame so as to swing up and down freely. A rear wheel is attached to the rear end portion of the rear fork, a gear case is attached to a side of the rear wheel, and a drive shaft is provided between the gear case and an output shaft of a power unit. The output of the power unit is transmitted to the rear wheel via the drive shaft and the gear case. In the motorcycle, the gear case is supported by a rear-wheel axle provided in the rear end portion of the rear fork. A torque rod, which links an outer periphery portion of the gear case with the rear fork, serves as a stopper for rotation of the gear case. The resulting configuration provides a shaft-drive system that reduces the assembling time of the torque rod, and improves the productivity of the main line.

To provide a rear wheel structure which can easily perform the mounting and dismounting of a rear wheel without causing a fluctuation in a banking angle. In the rear wheel structure which includes a pair of left and right swing arms which are arranged to sandwich a rear wheel, a driving force transmission device is provided for transmitting a driving force to the rear wheel along one swing arm, and a spacer which is arranged on an axle of the rear wheel. A muffler is arranged outside the swing arm on a side opposite to the driving force transmission device. The spacer is arranged between the swing arm on the driving-force-transmission-device-side and the rear wheel for mounting the rear wheel relative to the one swing arm.
