A pad clip for a disc brake including at least one friction pad and a support member. The pad clip comprises a first U-shaped portion, a second U-shaped portion, and a third side portion. The first U-shaped portion includes a first base portion and first side portions, and is disposed between side edge portions of the friction pad and anchor portions of the support member. The second U-shaped portion includes a second base portion, second side portions and a second opening portion, and is connected to one of the first side portions of the first U-shaped portion. The third side portion is connected to the second U-shaped portion, and is disposed substantially rectangularly to one of second side portions of the second U-shaped portion and parallel to the first base portion of the first U-shaped portion. The third side portion is positioned closer to the friction pad than the first base portion of the first U-shaped portion.

Disc brake

A slide guide mechanism consisting of guide holes and guide pins inserted into the guide holes, is used to mount a caliper on a support member, which is attached to a vehicle, such that the caliper is able to move in the axial direction of a rotor. The caliper has a fluid pressure means pressing an inner pad and an outer pad against the rotor during braking. Braking torque generated by the inner pad is transmitted to the support member. Braking torque generated by the outer pad is transmitted to the support member through the caliper and the slide guide mechanism. The main guide pin 16 is located at a position from where a gap from the guide hole of the slide guide mechanism is smaller, the guide hole for the main guide pin 16 is long enough to cross over the rotor and reach the outer pad, and the main guide pin 16 is located on the rotor run-out side. Moreover, the positions of the guide pins are located in a radial direction of the rotor, beyond the location where the outer pad is attached to the caliper.

A dust-proof boot comprising an internal engaging ring extended from one end of an expansible bellows portion and an external engaging ring provided upwardly thereof and capable of being spread is provided at an extended base of the internal engaging ring with an air flow port for guiding pressure from the inside of the bellows portion into the internal engaging ring. In mounting the dust-proof boot on a support provided with a guide hole, the internal engaging ring of the dust-proof boot is fitted into an internal groove of the support, after which compressed air is supplied from the interior of the bellows whereby the compressed air spreads the external engaging ring via the air flow port and the external engaging ring is fitted into an external groove.

Dust-proof boot and method for mounting the same

The oil tightness between a union and a seat portion on the outer side surface of a caliper is maintained by a copper packing. A rubber packing is provided on the outside of the copper packing so as to prevent water drops from adhering to the copper packing. As a result, copper ions never dissolves into the water drops, so that the aluminum caliper is prevented from corroding.
