A protection device worn on a human body and protects a head of the human body includes a base portion attachable to the human body, and a protection unit having a honeycomb structure or a bellows structure, held by the base portion, and being reversibly switchable between a folded orientation in which the protection unit is folded and an unfolded orientation in which the protection unit is unfolded from the folded orientation and thus the protection unit covers the head of the human body, the protection unit being provided with a fixed end fixed to the base portion and a free end not fixed to the base portion, the protection unit is folded in a state where the free end is close to the fixed end, and the protection unit is unfolded around the head while the free end separates from the fixed end.

An airbag device includes a seat frame that forms a skeleton of a vehicle seat on which an occupant of a vehicle sits; an airbag that is disposed on a backrest portion that supports a back of the occupant in the vehicle seat and that is deployed by supply of gas; and a gas generator that is disposed at a seating surface portion that supports buttocks of the occupant in the vehicle seat and that generates gas to be supplied to the airbag; where a part that is a portion of the seat frame and includes at least a portion of a back frame forming a skeleton of the backrest portion, is formed as a flow tube that connects to the airbag to supply gas generated by the gas generator to the airbag.

Airbag device and vehicle seat

The airbag device protects the occupant seated in the vehicle seat disposed in the vehicle. An airbag device includes a first airbag group and a second airbag group that are disposed in the vehicle seat in correspondence with impacts from two different directions and that respectively include a plurality of airbags; a gas generation unit that is disposed in a seat cushion, of the vehicle seat, that supports the buttocks region of the occupant and that generates gas to be supplied to the first airbag group or the second airbag group; and a switching unit that switches the supply of gas to either the first airbag group or the second airbag group.

An igniter assembly includes an igniter, a collar, and a holding part, a cup body having a cylindrical peripheral wall and a lid wall and a closing part defining an accommodating space with the cup body, the peripheral wall is sectioned, in an axial direction, into a contact region in contact with the closing part and a noncontact region not in contact with the closing part, the holding part includes a base part covering the contact region and a surrounding wall formed continuously to the base part and surrounding the noncontact region, and a fragile part is formed in the holding part between a first area including at least a part of the base part and a second area including a tip end of the surrounding wall, and thus the second area deforms radially outward preferentially when a load is applied to the surrounding wall by the igniter activated.

An igniter assembly including, an igniter, a metal collar arranged around the igniter, and a resin joining portion, the collar including, a joining surface portion having an annular surface covered with the resin joining portion, a first joining groove opened in the annular surface and including a first inner circumferential edge that has a first corner portion formed on the entire circumference of the first inner circumferential edge, and a second joining groove opened in an inner wall surface of the first joining groove and including a second inner circumferential edge that has a second corner portion formed on the entire circumference of the second inner circumferential edge, and the joined state being established when the resin joining portion enters the first joining groove and the second joining groove in a state in which the resin joining portion presses the first corner portion and the second corner portion.

Igniter assembly and gas generator

A gas generator includes, an ignition device chamber arranged on a first end of a housing, a diffuser including a gas discharge port and closing a second end of the housing, a gas containing chamber disposed between the diffuser and the ignition device chamber, a first rupturable plate closing the ignition device chamber from the gas containing chamber, and a second rupturable plate closing the gas containing chamber from the diffuser, and a cup-shaped deflector disposed on a side of the second rupturable plate. The cup-shaped deflector includes a gas passage in a peripheral surface and a fragile section on at least one of a bottom surface and the peripheral surface, and is disposed with the bottom surface located on a side of the first rupturable plate, with an opening covering the second rupturable plate, and defines a gap between the peripheral surface and an inner surface of the housing.

Gas generator

A gas generator includes: an ignition device chamber arranged at one end opening of a housing; a diffuser portion provided with a gas discharge port and arranged at another end opening; a pressurized gas chamber arranged between the ignition device chamber and the diffuser portion; a first rupturable plate closing the one end opening between the ignition device chamber and the chamber; a second rupturable plate closing the other end opening between the chamber and the diffuser portion; an igniter and a molded article of a gas generating agent accommodated in the ignition device chamber; a gas charged in the chamber; and an amount A (J/msec) of energy generated per unit time by the gas generating agent, a cross-sectional area B (cm) of the chamber at a portion proximate to the ignition device chamber, and a density C (g/cm) of the gas satisfy A/B&#xd7;C=320 to 490.

An inflator and airbag are fixed by a fixing member including a lower fixing member that supports and fixes the inflator from a lower surface side of a plate portion. The lower fixing member has a tubular wall portion and a flange portion formed at an opening at one end. The tubular wall portion has an inner surface in a shape that is fitted to a circumferential wall surface, including a lower annular step surface, of the inflator housing. The flange portion has a plurality of bolt holes and abuts against a lower surface of the plate portion. The airbag and the lower fixing member are fixed with a bolt and a nut mounted through the airbag, the plate portion, and the flange portion of the lower fixing member.

A gas generator includes, a housing, an ignition device chamber, a combustion chamber, a filter facing a top plate of the housing, and a retainer supporting the filter and having first and second retainers. The first retainer includes a filter support abutting a lower surface of the filter, an annular wall positioned at outer circumference of the filter support, a plate portion extending outward from the annular wall, and a tubular wall extending axially from the plate portion, and the second retainer includes a support surface supporting the outer circumferential surface, and a support bottom extending inward from the support surface. The support bottom is positioned between the plate portion and the lower surface and that an inner circumferential edge of the support bottom abuts the annular wall surface. At least a part of the lower surface and the outer circumferential surface is supported by the first and second retainers.

Gas generator for restraining device

A seal tape, a gas generator for a restraining apparatus using the seal tape, and a method for manufacturing a gas generator are provided. The seal tape closes, from an outside of the gas generator housing, a gas discharge port in a housing. The seal tape includes, a rupture portion for forming a door portion, and including a fragile portion and a rupture blocking portion at a tip of the fragile portion, a fixing support portion remaining attached to the housing, and the door portion bounded by the rupture portion and the fixing support portion being adjusted such that the gas discharge port is entirely open in a case where the door portion is opened.

A gas generator includes, a housing integrated at an upper circumferential wall plate and a lower circumferential wall plate, an ignition device chamber defined by a cup-shaped container disposed at a bottom plate of the housing, a combustion chamber surrounding the ignition device chamber, an annular filter facing a top plate of the housing, and a retainer supporting the filter and including an annular bottom surface supporting a lower surface of the filter and a cylindrical wall surface being press-fitted directly or indirectly to a circumferential wall plate of the housing. A circumferential wall of the cup-shaped container in the vicinity of the bottom surface abuts against or is positioned close to an inner circumferential surface of the filter. During activation, when the housing deforms, the annular filter gas-tightly attaches to the top plate of the diffuser shell, and a combustion gas is discharged radially outward through the filter.

The present invention provides a gas generator including a housing provided with a diffuser shell and a closure shell, an ignition device, the diffuser shell being in a substantially cup-like shape and having an annular bent portion obtained by bending a circumferential wall portion at an opening inwardly, the closure shell being in a substantially annular shape having a annular plate portion that includes a annular curved portion projecting toward the inside of the housing, the ignition device being fixed to a central hole in the annular plate portion with a resin, an inner circumferential part of the annular plate portion in the closure shell abutting against the resin, an outer circumferential part of the annular plate portion abutting against and being fixed to the annular bent portion of the diffuser shell.

A gas generator includes a diffuser shell and a closure shell, a housing formed by joining the diffuser shell and the closure shell, inside the housing, an ignition device chamber defined by a cup-shaped container, a combustion chamber enclosing the ignition device chamber, an annular or flat plate-shaped filter facing the top plate, a retainer supporting the filter, the retainer including a bottom surface and a cylindrical wall surface extending from an outer circumferential edge of the bottom surface, the cylindrical wall surface having a gas passage, the retainer being fixed by the cylindrical wall against a circumferential wall plate. During actuation, when the housing is deformed the retainer and the filter move to abut the top plate of the diffuser shell, combustion gas passes through the filter and the gas passage to be discharged from the gas discharge port.
