A cast cylinder headof an internal combustion engine to be mounted on a vehicle has an intake-side side wall, an exhaust-side side wall, and opposite end wallsand. The wallsanddefine a water jacket. A first cooling water exit partand a second cooling water exit partboth having a solid structure are formed by casting integrally with one of the intake-side side walland the exhaust-side side walland with one of the end wallsand, respectively. Cooling water exit openingsoropening into the water jacketare drilled selectively in either of the first cooling water exit partand the second cooling water exit partdepending on the engine mounting position on the vehicle. Thus the same cylinder head can be used independently of the mounting orientation of the engine on the vehicle.
