A drive unit configured to be provided to a human-powered vehicle. The drive unit includes a base on which a crankshaft is provided, a frame mount provided on the base, and a guide provided on the base. The frame mount is configured to be mounted on a frame of the human-powered vehicle. The guide is configured to guide a battery unit in a guide direction extending in a longitudinal direction of the frame so that at least part of the battery unit is arranged inside the frame of the human-powered vehicle in a state in which the frame mount is mounted on the frame.

A human-powered vehicle control device includes an electronic controller that changes a control state of an assist motor in accordance with an operation of an operating device. The control state includes a first control state, a second control state where the motor is driven in correspondence with a human driving force input, and a third control state where the motor is driven in correspondence with the human driving force input. In a case where the operating device is operated in accordance with a first operation procedure in the first control state, the electronic controller changes from the first control state to the second control state. In a case where the operating device is operated in accordance with a second operation procedure in the first control state, the electronic controller changes from the first control state to the third control state.

Human-powered vehicle control device

A human-powered vehicle component includes a housing and a joint provided on the housing and configured to be attached to a support of the human-powered vehicle by a fastener. The joint includes a metal base, a metal coupling portion provided on the base and coupled to the fastener, and an intermediate portion provided between the coupling portion and the base. The base includes a first material having a first standard electrode potential. The coupling portion includes a second material having a second standard electrode potential. The intermediate portion is formed by a third material having a third standard electrode potential or a fourth material having an electric insulating property. A difference of the third and first standard electric potentials and a difference of the third and second standard electrode potentials are each smaller than a difference of the first and second standard electrode potentials.

A bicycle apparatus comprises an assist motor, an ABS unit, an assist selection switch and a control device. The ABS unit is configured to control a braking force that is applied to a bicycle wheel. The assist selection switch is configured to switch the assist motor between an ON mode in which the assist motor is ON and an OFF mode in which the assist motor is OFF. The control of the ABS unit by the control device is dependent on an operation of the assist selection switch. The control device is configured to control the assist motor to add the assisting force to the manual drive force when the assist motor is in the ON mode. The control device is configured to set the ABS unit to an ABS operating mode to begin control of the ABS unit when the assist selection switch selects the ON mode.

Bicycle apparatus

A bicycle apparatus is basically provided with a housing, an assist motor and a case. The housing is configured to be provided to a bicycle. The assist motor housed in an internal space of the housing. The assist motor is configured to add an assisting force to a manual drive force inputted from a bicycle crankshaft. The case that is separate from the housing. The ABS unit provided in an internal space of the case. The ABS unit is configured to control a braking force that is applied to a wheel of the bicycle.

A drive unit is configured to be provided to a human-powered vehicle. The drive unit includes a base on which a crankshaft is provided, and a holder mount provided on the base. The holder mount is configured to selectively mount a battery holder, which is configured to hold a battery unit, at a plurality of positions in a predetermined linear direction.

A bicycle has a bicycle body, a bicycle component, and a battery. The bicycle body has a frame including a down tube, a component mounting portion, and a seat tube. The bicycle component includes a bicycle drive unit. At least a portion of the bicycle component is arranged inside the frame. The battery is mounted on the bicycle to supply the bicycle component with electrical power. The frame further includes a first open portion that is provided on the component mounting portion and opens toward an upper side of the bicycle. At least a portion of the bicycle drive unit is disposed inside the frame and is exposed through the first open portion.

A bicycle drive unit includes a housing, a crankshaft and a propulsion assist motor. The housing is configured to be mounted on a frame of a bicycle. The crankshaft is provided to the housing. The assist propulsion motor is provided to the housing to assist propulsion of a bicycle. The propulsion assist motor includes a rotational axis extending in a direction intersecting a direction in which crankshaft extends. The bicycle drive unit is configured such that a distance from a rotational axis of the crankshaft to a part of the bicycle drive unit that is the farthest from the rotational axis of the crankshaft in a direction parallel to the rotational axis of the propulsion assist motor is smaller than or equal to 210 mm.

Bicycle drive unit

A method of controlling an ABS unit is provided for controlling a braking force of a bicycle. The method includes determining whether a vehicle speed is greater than or equal to a prescribed speed, and then determining whether the bicycle is in a prescribed state. The prescribed state is at least one of a first state and a second state. The first state is a state in which a difference between a rotational speed of the front wheel and a rotational speed of the rear wheel is greater than or equal to a prescribed rotational speed. The second state is a state in which a change in the rotational speeds of the front and rear wheels is greater than or equal to a prescribed value. The method further includes controlling the ABS unit upon based on the vehicle speed and the prescribed state.

A bicycle component includes a drive unit and a battery. The drive unit includes a housing mounted on a bicycle frame, a crankshaft provided to a first portion of the housing, and a propulsion assist motor provided to a second portion of the housing. The battery is electrical connected to the propulsion assist motor to supply electrical power to the propulsion assist motor. The propulsion assist motor includes a rotational axis extending in a direction intersecting a direction in which the crankshaft extends. At least part of the second portion and at least part of the battery are accommodated in the frame in a state in which the second portion and the battery are arranged next to each other in a direction parallel to the rotational axis of the propulsion assist motor and the battery is coupled to the second portion in an attachable and detachable manner.

A bicycle apparatus is basically provided with an assist motor, an ABS unit, an assist selection switch and a control device. A bicycle drive unit includes a housing, a crankshaft and a propulsion assist motor. The housing is configured to be coupled to a frame of a bicycle. The housing includes first and second portions. The crankshaft is provided to the first portion of the housing. The propulsion assist motor is provided to the second portion of the housing. The propulsion assist has a rotational axis extending in a direction intersecting with a direction in which the crankshaft extends. A maximum dimension of the first portion in the direction in which the crankshaft extends is less than or equal to 100 mm. A maximum output torque of the propulsion assist motor is greater than or equal to 10 Nm and less than or equal to 80 Nm.

A method for mounting a bicycle drive unit to a frame of a bicycle, in which the bicycle drive unit includes a housing, a crankshaft and a propulsion assist motor. The housing has a first portion and a second portion. The crankshaft is provided to the first portion. The propulsion assist motor is provided to the second portion and includes a rotational axis extending in a direction intersecting a direction in which the crankshaft extends. The method includes a first step of arranging the first portion at a position for mounting the first portion on the frame, and a second step of rotating the housing about an axis parallel to a rotational axis of the crankshaft and inserting the second portion into an opening of the frame after the first step.

A human-powered vehicle drive unit that reduces loss of human driving force includes an electric motor, a crankshaft, an output portion, a speed reducer, and a clutch. The electric motor is configured to assist in propulsion of a human-powered vehicle. The output portion is coupled to the crankshaft. The speed reducer reduces a rotational speed of the electric motor in multiple steps. The clutch is provided between the output portion and the speed reducer. In a case in which the crankshaft rotates in a first rotational direction, the output portion is configured to rotate in the first rotational direction. In a case in which the crankshaft rotates in a second rotational direction, the output portion is configured to rotate in the second rotational direction. The clutch is configured to transmit a rotational force of the electric motor to the output portion from the speed reducer.

A bicycle drive unit includes a housing, crankshaft and a propulsion assist motor. The housing is configured to be mounted on a frame of a bicycle. The housing includes a first portion and a second portion. The crankshaft is provided to the first portion of the housing. The propulsion assist motor is provided to the second portion of the housing and configured to assist propulsion of the bicycle. The propulsion assist motor includes a rotational axis extending in a direction intersecting a direction in which the crankshaft extends. The second portion has a maximum dimension of smaller than or equal to 75 mm in a direction orthogonal to the rotational axis of the propulsion assist motor.
