A battery manufacturing apparatus is configured to produce a plurality of types of battery modules (first battery module and second battery module) having a cell unit (flat battery) housed inside a case having an upper case and a lower case and having different specifications between a plurality of components (bolted brackets and sleeves) attached to the case. The battery manufacturing apparatus has a first attachment mechanism, a second attachment mechanism and a battery housing mechanism. The first attachment mechanism attaches to one of the upper case and the lower case of the plurality of components having different specifications. The second attachment mechanism attaches to one of the upper case and the lower case of the plurality of components having no specification differences. The battery housing mechanism has a flat battery arranged between the upper case and the lower case.

Battery manufacturing apparatus

A sheet material adhesive agent application method includes first and second actions. The first action is performed sequentially for stacked multiple sheet materials. The first action is implemented by: taking out an uppermost one of the multiple sheet materials; transferring the taken-out sheet material to an adhesive agent application stage; and applying the adhesive agent to the transferred sheet material at the adhesive agent application stage. The second action is performed in advance to the first action, wherein the second action is implemented by setting an uppermost group of sheet materials so that each sheet material of the uppermost group has a predetermined curvature projecting upward. Recesses (Q) are formed by positively generating a 'sink mark' on a surface of edge protector () by ejection of the compressed air, and at the same time, gap (G) is formed between the surface of edge protector () and the mold surface. As a result, when bead-shaped edge protector () is integrally formed in long-side heat-fused portions () of laminated-film exterior package case () by using a thermoplastic hot melt resin material, mold releasability of the molded edge protector from the mold can be enhanced.

A bus bar attachment device includes a bus bar placing part for placing a bus bar onto a pallet, and a pressing part for causing first and second adjacent surfaces in the bus bar placed by the bus bar supply part to press against first and second adjacent wall surfaces in a bus bar positioning part of the pallet. The bus bar is placed by the bus bar supply part in a position where the first and second surfaces face the first and second wall surfaces in the bus bar positioning part, and the first and second surfaces are pressed the pressing part against the first and second wall surfaces in the bus bar positioning part to set the position of the bus bar relative to a battery.

A battery coupling method is provided for coupling a support member to a battery cell for supporting the battery cell provided with a group of electrodes. The battery coupling method includes: passing a protrusion part formed on the support member through a hole formed in the battery cell; pressing the support member using a pressing unit that approaches the support member from a side where a heating unit is positioned; heating a tip end of the protrusion part using the heating unit to form a heat-deformed part of a size which prevents extraction of the protrusion part from the hole; separating the heating unit from the heat-deformed part after the pressing and heating of the tip end of the protrusion part; and separating-the pressing unit from the support member after the pressing and heating of the tip end of the protrusion part.
