Provided is a resource management method in a system which individually limits a resource amount used by a software module () and adjusts the total of the maximum resource amounts used by respective software modules to be smaller than the entire system resource amount. When installing or executing a new software module, stepchecks whether a software module group already installed or being executed is stably operating according to an execution history thereof; and stepchecks whether to enable the installation or execution by including the maximum actual resource use value in the total from the execution history.

Installing and executing new software module without exceeding system resource amount

An in-vehicle terminal () is provided, which has a function ensuring that computer resource secured by a virtual machine () or a virtual machine () is controlled within a limit value of the computer resource that is allocated to the corresponding virtual machine, or a function which is capable of executing multiple virtual machines appropriately. A portable terminal displays on a selection screen not only contents stored in the portable terminal but also contents stored in a contents server communicatable via a network with the portable terminal. The selection screen displays information regarding the size and location of each of the contents, as well as estimated time and cost required to obtain each of the corresponding contents based on information regarding communication speed and communication path such as communicatable areas. The portable terminal is also equipped with a function to search another communication path that becomes available when moving the portable terminal to another location, and a function to suggest to obtain the contents using such a communication path if the new communication path provides faster and/or more inexpensive connection.

Power consumption can be suppressed while maintaining an appropriate execution speed. The information processor has an interpreter for interpreting a source program or intermediate language program and a run-time translator for translating the program into a machine language program native to the computer. The information processor comprises a power-saving request monitor for monitoring whether or not there is a power-saving request from an input interface or a predetermined power-saving request in a given memory, and a power-saving translation controller. The power-saving request makes a request for suppression of the power consumed by the processor. The power-saving translation controller makes a decision as to whether the run-time translator executes run-time translation of the program according to whether there is the power-saving request. Based on the result of the decision, the translation controller instructs the run-time translator to execute the run-time translation.

An information processing terminal includes a calculation processing unit, a telephone communication processing unit for performing a telephone communication with respect to another appliance, a communication processing unit for performing a communication operation with respect to the another appliance, and a signature calculating unit in which when a telephone communication with respect to the above-described another appliance is carried out, a signature using a secret key is produced by the calculation processing unit, and the signature calculating unit produces information attached with signature to which the produced signature has been attached. In the information processing terminal, the telephone communication processing unit transmits the information attached with signature to the another appliance corresponding to a telephone calling destination. It then becomes possible to notify that a telephone communication counter party is a justified user of an appliance before the telephone communication is commenced.

An ETC (electronic toll collection) system includes an antenna having a predetermined directivity for providing a limited radio-communication service zone. A vehicle sensor operates for detecting a vehicle which reaches a predetermined position in the limited radio-communication service zone. A radio signal is transmitted via the antenna. A decision is made as to whether or not a radio response to the radio signal is received via the antenna. In cases where a radio response to the radio signal is received, it is judged that there is an ETC vehicle incoming. In cases where the vehicle sensor detects a vehicle while a radio response to the radio signal is not received, it is judged that there is a non-ETC vehicle incoming.

A method for inserting monitor code into a program, improved to monitor the execution of any part of a program, is proposed. By embedding monitor code in place within a sequence of executable codes constituting a function to be monitored when reading the program and executing monitor actions through the intervention of stub functions during the program execution, monitoring the program execution is performed without placing loads on the run of the program other than the functions to be monitored.
